Didn't get a chance to get one 🙁 My friend and I were in the hospital working on an extra credit assignment and one of the residents showed us the baby lambs that were just born this morning. I got to pet one 🙂 🙂 🙂 SO CUTE!

Aww ... I am so jealous!
 
I was told I could use my job as vet experience instead of just animal experience.

That adds 470 hours onto my count. 😱 And I have another semester there so several hundreds more. I'll also be shadowing much more next semester and my favorite vet said I could do cattle research with her over the summer.

With that number, I might actually have a chance next year when applying. 😀

I go home tomorrow for the first time since I moved to Mass. in August. SO HAPPYYYYY In a mere twelve hours, I'll be done with lecture, have to attend a meeting and then I hit the road :biglove:
 
Small rave, but in the last 6 hours of my shift in the equine ICU, I've managed to finish 3 different sets of objectives. That makes 5 lectures worth of objectives done since thanksgiving break began. I love feeling productive. And when I get home, I get to sleep 😀

I finally have a nice big corner desk!! Been looking for a cheap good one for 6 months. Will post pics in a couple days, after it is all set up. I can now organize and put out all my office supplies. 😍 Now just need to get a rolly cart drawers thingy to put underneath it. And a chair. 😀

I got a new desk recently too!! It was super exciting!
 
My friend from Texas (who I haven't seen since 1999) exchanged bracelets with me via mail. She's coming to Maine in a few months and asked if I could get to Texas or Maine. The boyfriend said he will take me to Maine when she goes up. It's only a 10 hour commute to Bangor from where I live but I have never been there. I am very excited. 😀.
 
Only 9 hours of work stands between me and 4 days off!!!!! :biglove:

- Someone dressed up our giant dog head (Falkor) for Thanksgiving, and it seriously made my day:

I may be fostering a cat!

Also, the woman who gave me two rats invited me to hang out last night. Her and her friends are vegan or vegetarian. We had Mexican food for dinner and wine. It is very nice to hang out with people who do not make fun of me because of my diet.

She also have me a little pet tent she picked up at the dollar store for the rats. Cute pictures of rats in tent are to come!
 
Spending Thanksgiving break with my boyfriend and his family. We're going to have adventures in NYC today. I'm enjoying myself. 😀

KILL IT WITH FIRE!

It's blissfully warm and sunny here on the island. If I had my way, it'd be like this all winter. I'm dreading the first snow, because that inevitably leads to the second snow, and the third, etc. 🙄

In addition to the unseasonably warm weather, I have lots of little raves. Today featured: the chance to work with a Canada goose, physiotherapy on a pigeon, and one of the best quotes of the year during endocirine pathology. "It's the electrolyte imbalance that will kill you. You can live without sugar and sex. Whether it's worth living is another story." Never underestimate the power of humour as a teaching tool!

Got a little cat tree at work for free (normally $75 at petsmart). I've realized though that I'm hoarding things for my cats.
 
Thank God I finally got to talk to my babe.. I've been a nervous wreck ever since I got the email from the FRG saying some of our guys were injured 🙁 babe said they turned off the internet to let the families be notified before anyone else Found out, which I understand.. I've just been on edge waiting to hear from him.. Ugh, so scary. I just want him home. I'm praying for a speedy recovery for our guys, and am so thankful for only minor injuries.

It is not hoarding, it is spoiling.....
I could start a business selling all the stuff I have accumulated for my doggies and kitty.

I can't even tell you how much **** I have for my animals. The horse? Let's not even go there. The cats have a GIANT cat tree (like, taller than me), plus two little standing scratch posts, plus a cute little mini tree that fits perfectly as a window seat, plus a little wavy floor scratching thingy. Plus all their toys. Plus Dorian has 2 ties.

They were so cute! My roommate bought one for her male cat, he looked very dapper 🙂

My animals have more stuff than most large families. Pretty sure my hamster has more stuff than most college aged people 🙄

The first one is blue (to match his blue eyes) and I just got a cute plaid christmas one. Sooooo cute!
 
I went to a charity fundraiser for a cat rescue last night. They had a presentation about the disaster relief program for animals. If you become a responding volunteer, you get to take handling courses (even a reptile handling course!) I just moved to a new city in September and have not been volunteering with animals because vet clinics here are less than willing to help people out. The presenter invited me to their meeting in December and thinks my skills would be a great asset. I am quite happy that I have found a new way to volunteer.
