I may feel similarly about my older Lab, who's been with me since the summer between my first and second years of undergrad 😀 I can't imagine a life without him

Got mine between first and second year too! 8 years ago... crazy! My dad is mad bc I'm more excited that it's my dog's birthday than his (today also) 😉.
And mine is Saturday. But I pretty much am only excited for my dog's :smack:
And don't get me started on a life without her. I literally cry in the car sometimes thinking about stupid scenarios and life without her :uhno:
I'm really not an emotional person so it surprises me when it happens 😳
Aaaannnd ok... officially branded as crazy dog lady.

You are so not alone. 😀

Five cats = 5 birthdays. Whenever it's someone's birthday we buy a can or two of fancy food (usually weruva, or just tuna/salmon), dish it out for everyone, and put the plates on the floor in a circle. My husband and I dance around the apartment to "Birthday" by The Beatles while the cats inhale the food as quickly as possible. Sometimes we pick them up and make them dance with us which goes over REALLY well.

I can't believe I just admitted that on the internet. 😳

I know, ugh ... I can't even think about it. My guy is 7 1/2 years old and has IVDD and arthritis in his hips and elbows. He practically has a pharmacy of his own - he gets 7 pills and a powder per day between supplements and meds plus has other stronger meds as needed. He just needs to stop aging, is that too much to ask? 😳

I may or may not have sent my mom a text on my cat's birthday telling her to give her a hug for me and to buy her some good kitty treats for a present. 😳

Also, my birthday is Monday...

And yes, my dog got her $$$ monthly Rxs for her birthday 😉. Along with lots of other goodies of course 😀
They truly need to just stop aging. It kills me.

I just got a scholarship that is 8k a year for 4 years! I'm so elated right now! yay! I'm still in disbelief! When I applied for it I thought it was a 1 time 1k scholarship! It really makes me believe that when one door closes another one opens since I just stupidly missed the deadline for the APHIS internship program (had everything uploaded/completed and forgot to hit the damn submit button 🙁 ) I was totally kicking myself hard over that one. makes me feel much better 🙂

Also just got an email from the rural clinic I contacted about volunteering and they're wanting to set something up!

And MAC just called me about the eye-shadow palette they've been out of forever finally arrived!

omg today has been such a great day! 😀

Today I:
Found an 8mm vesicle in a mare's uterus. Yay babies!
Found a fetal heartbeat in a 25d pregnancy. Again, yay babies!

I'm amazed at how much more comfortable I feel with palpation and ultrasound compared to just two weeks ago.

Oh, and the mare I AI'd two days ago ovulated. Cross your fingers that the little spermies do their job and that I made a baby! I'm sad the rotation will be over before she comes in for her 12d preg check.

I'm going to be pretty sad when this rotation is over. The hours are long and sucky, but I've gotten to spend most of my days outside in the sunshine. I have radiology next. Talk about complete opposites. I'm going from green fields and sunshine to black and white pictures in a dark windowless room :laugh:

I love this! Imagining the scene makes me giggle.

My stepdad's birthday coincides with the presumed birthdays of 3 of our kitties, so for his past birthday..my mom bought him a cake and had the baker write 'Happy birthday 'LittleWiz's stepdad' and the kitties!'. I wished I could have been at the bakery when she asked them to write that. I wonder what they thought.
 
Just ordered 9 dozen 4-oz jelly jars. Next weekend my MIL and I are making and canning apple butter for the wedding favors at our wedding (it's at a ranch). I'm excited but its going to be a boatload of work!

gave official notice at work today for the end of the month and ironing out insurance switch tomorrow. love the vets I work with, but so excited for some time off.
the extra little bit of money for another month just isn't worth it for how frustrated some people have been making me lately. plus sleeping in + more time with the dog = 😍.

Kakurubird, I need some of your bravery/motivation to do the same thing... Love the people I work with, but need to get out of there and get some time off from the work personalities and clients etc. Working with all women is exhausting, even as a woman! Too much drama sometimes.

Why is it that it took bf and I nearly 5 hours to load all of his stuff into our cars together yesterday, but only half an hour for me to unload both cars by myself this morning?

Granted, not everything was packed yesterday. And nothing is put away right now - I just stacked it all in the mudroom at his mom's house. But still, I'm congratulating myself on being an awesome girlfriend. 😀
 
Done!!!! First year over, rocked out my oral exam :naughty: , get my cast off soon, going to lunch with all the amazing friends I've made, picking up my fiancé from the airport, and taking the puppies straight to their favorites play spot. And then tomorrow is my birthday and my mom has something up her sleeve. She asked, "What do you value more? Control or surprises?"
:laugh: I have issues.

I'm putting this in the rave thread because I would actually like to rant about it but know I'm being a brat so I'm forcing myself to put it here.
My mom surprised me for my birthday yesterday with an engagement photo shoot (with the best photographer EVER and I've always adored her work). Anyway, she scheduled it for 4:00 Monday.
I have a small suitcase of shorts and t shirts. Good going mom 🙄. So the control freak inside of me is going absolutely insane right now. I even cried myself to sleep last night bc I was such a mess (admittedly ridiculous in ever sense). I have no makeup, no clothes, chewed off my finger nails yesterday, a big red pimple in the middle of my forehead, and pale as a ghost.
"So just go to the store" you say... Yeah no, my mom is having family over today and all the stores close at 6:00. I'm stressed the **** out about something I should be elated over.
Control freak Emiloo:1, Rational Emiloo: 0
Anyway... Yay for awesome photo shoot with my awesome man!!! 😀

Well...makeup you could always just go to the mall and get a free one done at sephora or something beforehand---4pm gives you some time no? 🙂 And I am sure they will turn out great no matter what you are wearing!!
