Two weeks until I move to my new apartment!

Not that I'm keeping track or anything. . .

I can't wait to live in an apartment where I can sit wherever the hell I want and still have internet. And to have control of my own heat. And to actually have places to put my stuff instead of working around the piles of crap the landlords are storing here. And to be able to put food down on the table for 30 seconds without having to worry about flies landing on it.

Is it too early to start packing?

don't be too jealous, with surgery comes a lot of extra time and a lot of paperwork (and the bonus accompanying stress) 😀

You could come to AVC and volunteer for our feral cat spay/neuter program. A bunch of my first year classmates got to do neuters last weekend.

There is a program here in MI where all they do is spay/neuters all day long. It's called C-SNIP. Don't know how competitive it is, but I heard externship spots fill up fast. http://www.csnip.org/

I've felt so lost in chem but I got an A on my first lab report! 🙂 I got an A on the first test as well (the syllabus one... I forgot one of the fire safety aspects of the lab, hence the rant on it in the rant thread.) and our second test, first ACTUAL one, is coming up Wednesday. We have double the terms to memorize as we did for the first, yipes!

I walked out of my exam today thinking I literally bombed it and did AMAZINGLY. So happy with myself this semester (grades-wise, at least!). An internship/residency may be possible after all 🙂

I have another job interview on Tuesday. I applied for a veterinary assistant position. The manager says she is excited to talk more about my experiences.

I am freaking out. It wasn't clear in the original posting that this position would be mostly client-based. I had assumed that a receptionist deals mostly with people, but this position sounds like half-reception, half-out back.

The last time I interviewed for a receptionist position, it sucked.

I am super nervous! I don't know how to prepare!

I found a vegan registered dietician and fitness coach locally. I've been with her for a month. I'm training for a WBFF bikini competition in the spring 😀

In December, I was 152 lbs and was at 26% body fat. I am 123 lbs and 21%body fat. I lost 5.5 inches and 1.5% body fat in the month with her. She may have to up my calories 😛

That's what I have been up to.

I have been slacking on studying for the GRE. My memory and concentration isn't up to par. I still have to get my iron tested for my naturopath. I'm a little upset that when I start taking my meds sporadically, I feel tired and lethargic.

For those of you who don't remember or don't know what I've gone through in the last year, I had extreme fatigue, brain fog and concentration issues. I have issues absorbing B-12, an mthfr mutation and hemachromatosis. Once I started treating the mthfr mutation, my fatigue went away but I still don't feel 100%. I'm overdue at having my iron tested to make sure that my iron stores are normal. I want to be well enough to return to school next year. Being sick has made me afraid to go back.

So Lenovo, sent me a dud of a computer. It hasn't worked right since I've received it. Its the Yoga model. The screen wont turn when I change the orientation, sometimes the key board wont shut off/turn on or it wont wake up from sleep. I called the tech support guys multiple times and they kept saying it was a software issue. I freaking reset the computer 4 times in 2 months. I had a hardware tech out to see me to replace cables between the screen and the key board. Nothing fixed it permanently. I was so pissed one day I called to bitch them out and demand a new computer. After talking with tech support, for a hour about my problem he said perhaps we should reset the computer. I lost it, first I could barely understand him, then he wouldn't listen to the fact that I have already reset the computer 4 times, under both tech guys and by myself. I FINALLY after an hour got someone higher up on the line that I could actually understand, and they told me I could only request a replacement if it was within 21 days of receiving it. Then I lost it on her, about how they should go back and see all the tech reports I had called in in the past 2 months. I dropped over $1300 on this computer and it should freaking work right. She then authorized me to receive a replacement. 😍 I received it yesterday after 3 weeks after the authorization cause they were on back order or something. Regardless this laptop already works so much better.

Moral of the story, demand what you deserve ESPECIALLY if its from a large corporation. 🙂

Been losing weight since last December... as of the scale this morning, I'm officially down over 60lbs... AND I'm overweight, not obese! 😀 😍

I know, I know, BMI shouldn't be used on the individual basis, but I'm still super chuffed. Never in my adult life have I been this size.

No secret, just calorie counting (MyFitnessPal is awesome!) and sporadic running. Did the Couch to 5K program at the beginning of the year, took a break while I was abroad and then got back into it and have slowly been working through a half marathon plan since. But realistically it's been pretty much all diet.

But I sent it in on Friday and aside from acknowledgment that they got it, I haven't heard a word. I know it's a long process, they have to call my landlord and all my references, etc. But the wait is driving me crazy! I'll be so upset if I can't adopt him for some reason.

I remember doing that whole process about a year ago now. Luckily, the dog I just got was at a rescue I had previously applied at, so the process was much quicker. you get him.

Thanks guys! I spoke with his foster mom at length last week and he really sounds like the perfect dog for us. I haven't heard anything yet, and I know they haven't contacted my references yet. The anticipation is making me crazy!

I love flash cards. Whoever came up with the idea gets a big ole hug from me. I am in the process of making about 300 of them for all of my classes (I have an exam in every class this week). YAY FLASHCARDS!

The notes for our next exam are 710 pages long. That does not include the required reading from Fossum's surgery or the required reading from the Diagnostic Imaging book. Nor does that include needing to practice suturing techniques and gloving techniques for our OSCE exam. It is not feasible any longer to re-write notes/condense into flashcards. I feel like if I read all of the notes for an exam, I have accomplished a small miracle.
