EG - Your posts always make me smile. You're always so positive! And yay for scholarships! Every little bit helps!

Small rave: My Philosophy of Biology prof took pity on me. I was officially 0.2% off an A, but she gave it to me anyway. 😀

Aw I'm glad I make you smile =)

And wooot for generous profs!!

My life is going really well right now.

I won third place at a poster session at my university.
I won "Best undergrad talk" at a regional conference for my oral presentation.
I won $1000 for my thesis proposal.
I won "best student in marine biology" or something of that nature

My adviser had to say a few words about me during an awards ceremony tonight and she was in tears by the end. I was so touched.

I went from having 0 job prospects after graduation to possibly having 2 lined up in amazing locations (one at huge hospital I did my internship at a while back) and one at the shelter I volunteer at.

I'm almost done with my thesis (few final edits).

I'm just in a really good place right now 🙂 So excited to be applying to veterinary school this summer 👍

And I'm jealous of anyone that finished finals. I still have a week of classes left and two tests on Friday so I don't even get to watch this game 🙁

We don't get out for 2 more weeks... and we have 2 tests that last week. We don't even have "finals"... it's just tail-end of our year tests... we have been finishing classes since January :/

NStarz - how exciting, congrats to you!

One final down, one more to go, RIR tomorrow (gotta let the redneck in me out every now & then) then I get a whopping whole week to breathe before summer semester.

Last day of undergrad classes ever!!!! :soexcited:

Then I just have 5 finals over three days next week and I'll be FREE until late September when vet school starts!

After a week with 3 other finals, and other projects, I had my last engineering test ever this morning. I stayed up until 3 this morning making my cheat sheets (he allowed 2 pages front and back). I get there, and the final was the best surprise I've gotten all semester. The first question (30 points): What is one thing you're looking forward to using from this class in your first 5 years working as an engineer? The second question (60 points): Staple your cheat sheets to this. The third question (10 points): Enjoy the video.

Needless to say, it was amazing...

...until we watched the video. Not so amazing. It's a safety class, so he wanted to drill it in our minds one final time that safety should be top priority in engineering so we watched a video about Piper Alpha. I can definitely say this class is one that will stick with me forever.

So I thought today was just a normal day doing low cost spay/neuters. But I was wrong! Someone brought in a 8 week old miniature pot belly piggy! And I got to tech for his neuter. He was so cute. I want a piggy now! 😍 Apparently they're really great pets. You can litter box train them!

^^ How awesome is that?!?! Ya know, it's things like that (as you said) that will stick with you, not the gazillion mult. choice exam questions on a scantron...

I only have 1 Monday left of vet school😀😀😀😀 (and only 1 Tuesday, 1 Weds, Thurs, and Fri). The end is in sight!

What are you starting next? Job, internship etc?

On to the next stage of my life! My coworkers gave me an amazing goodbye/congrats party, I somehow managed to easily fit my whole life into my car and drive up to my mom's house, and got everything unloaded to store for the summer. A week to relax here (and get to meet some of my UCD classmates tomorrow!!!!), then I'm off to visit my best friend for a week and then spend 2.5 months traveling in Bolivia. And then vet school starts. So excited for everything!!!! 😀😀😀😀

Lissarae, one of my best friends is supposed to have her babies today! She's TINY and having twins, and they her water broke early, so they'll be NICU babies.

Fingers crossed for her and the girls to come through everything uneventfully!

I have a home visit scheduled this week as the final step in the dog adoption process! I have my eye on a sweet little 8 year old beagle mama. 🙂 Now I just have to convince the boy that having a pup won't cut into our long-distance relationship...he's not completely on-board with this move...

Congrats, Lissarae! And congrats to your sister!

Lissarae06, congrats on your new niece!

My rave: I totally rocked my physics exam.....got a 97% WOOOOHOOOOO!😀

I take my physics final at 1:30. Based on my calculations, as long as I get a 50 on the test, I've got a B... and a B is all I care about (of course, even if I get a 100 I can only get a B+) so it doesn't really matter... so no pressure going in.

After this test I am DONE with undergrad, which feels awesome since it has taken me 7 years due to medical set backs!

I have a nephew and a step-niece but Aubrey is my first baby niece. I fully intend on spoiling the crap out of her.

Don't forget the really obnoxious, loud gifts. A drum set, for example.

And the gifts with one thousand tiny little pieces.

Just aced an important final and then made $200+ selling back some of my books. Score!

My boyfriend got picked to go on a fishing trip for work. He texts me:
him: Do you want a fish?
me: Is it dead?

Gotta love it. So maybe we'll be having rockfish for dinner, unless the skinning and preparing goes horribly wrong 🙄

And candy. You can't forget the candy. My brother tried to get his kids to call me Auntie Lissie. I hated it so I told him if they called me that I would load them up on sugar every time they were about to go home. Nipped that one in the bud real fast!

My finals are over, and I just submitted my last undergraduate paper ever. It feels amazing. :soexcited:

My car is finally paid off, so no more car notes for me! Just another indication that it is almost time for vet school, because I was waiting to pay if off before I applied 😀😀

This ALMOST qualified as a rant, though; I accidentally paid my note twice (I didn't even owe two whole notes) and almost overdrew my account. I only noticed because I checked my online statement, and I am so glad I did! Transfer...whew, that was close! Now I have to wait a month to be refunded my overpayment...

So, I didn't even get to have my last payment whoo-hoo moment, because I didn't even know that I paid my car off last week...by accident! But YEAY my car is paid off...as an afterthought :soexcited:

Also, the local exotics vet called me back today and is excited for me to start working for him. Whoot whoot! That should start up end of this month, beginning of June.

I went through airport security the other day going to NYC for my big birthday bash and they found two hollow-point bullets in my makeup kit... oops. Apparently, I dumped them in there when moving last year to the UK (had to give gun to brother who is a Fed Agent). So, after my look of horror and me babbling about how they must have gotten in there, he said "I'm sure neither of us want to fill out all of the paperwork, so I'm putting them back in your bag right here (as he's placing them back in my big purse) and you need to dispose of them and come back through security"... I asked where I was supposed to 'dispose' of them and he said he didn't care, just get rid of them....okaaaay.

I threw them in trashcan and went back through. Very bizarre. True story.

1st semester back to school in almost 10 years and I totally rocked it out with a 4.0. Quite pleased w/ myself at the moment!

I'm sure o-chem in the fall will be a different story....

Congrats, that's awesome!! Keep it up! 👍

All done, last final was bright an early this morning. Now I'm packing for my trip to Puerto Rico (i.e. waiting for clothes to dry so I can finish packing) and tying up some last minute ends before I let my mind wander for the next week and enjoy the simple things, like sunsets, sand and the ocean! No thoughts about summer classes, GRE or VMCAS 😀 Save that for next week!

So I spent the last couple days making over 300 flashcards for my invertebrate final on Thursday. Today in my last invertebrate class the professor asked to see me in the hall...he told me that I have been working so hard and that I had such a good score on the last two tests that I don't have to take the final!! I was sooo happy! It definitely made my day! Since it made my day I thought I would help outta friend. Watch this video...its funny and a friend of mine did it for a viral media class...the number of hits determines the grade! I hope everyone is surviving finals!

My fiance and I are getting married in just over a year, but since he will be starting clinics about the time my summer starts, we will have no chance at having a honeymoon. With this in mind, we have decided to take a pre-wedding honeymoon. Money is pretty tight for us, but his parents have agreed to pay for the trip if we do some work around his grandma's house (painting/moving furniture/probably yard work). We're officially going to Florida and have tickets to [popular theme park]!! So freakin' excited!!

Also, we planned on getting one of the packages through the company, but ended up saving about $150 off that using a deal from my credit card.

No. No it won't. You'll keep rocking it just like you started.

Positive attitude! (And congrats!). 🙂

Last final is over. Undergrad is DONE!!!!!!!!!:soexcited::clap::bow:

O-chem, for me, was actually manageable because I got on top of things right from the start, studied and practiced every day (I kept flashcards and little models in my purse), and found a friend or the teacher to clarify right away if I got confused. It was not the horror everybody made it out to be. If you're making 4.0's, I'm sure you can rock O-chem 🙂

A couple of raves:

  1. My parents and one of my brothers are coming in today. So are the husband's parents and brother
  2. I am graduating TOMORROW!
  3. I have a job lined up and it is in a location that is the next best thing to ideal - near my parents but not too close. It is also not too far from beaches.

Good for you. Insanely jealous (about #2 anyway).

It has been a long time coming. I would be lying if I said I never once wavered in my commitment. You'll have your time soon enough. And clinics are WAY better than classroom.

New boots came in the mail today! I haven't been this excited about shoes... probably ever. I also haven't spent this much on shoes ever. XD

They're suuuuuuper pretty. And so far, comfy to walk around the house in. Hopefully they don't give me blisters when I wear them for real.

Put in my letter of resignation at the hotel that I've been working hard at for 15 years, so terrified and yet so so excited to be leaving. The clinic I've been working at part time is picking me up to full time, super super excited. One step closer to my dream. 😀

I AM DONE WITH UNDERGRAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhh it hasn't even set in yet completely. Wooooooo!

I just wanted to say thanks to those that watched the video I posted in an earlier post. It is actually kind of funny. So the guy that made the video went to the class that he made the video for and they looked at everyones videos and then looked at how many hits they got. They also looked at where the hits were coming from and the second highest was from SDN (first highest from facebook) so he had to explain to everyone what this site was about. So thanks again! I really appreciated it and hope it made you at least smile!

Meant to put this awhile back but I've just been swamped with carefree living and a lack of immediate responsibilities but I def. Am done with first year. Gnarbone.
