I hope we both hear good news TOMORROW from OSU, potf!

I was really impressed with the facilities. Enjoyed meeting/talking with you today.

C'mon, OSU, let us IN already!

Amen to that. I'm glad you two had a great time at the interviews and feel really good about them! I really wish I felt better about mine but I don't. I just wish I knew either way-rip off that band aid, dang it! And LSD, congrats on your CSU acceptance-that must feel amazing.

As for a rave...hmm...well I've actually had a pretty bad day, but I did watch this show today on Discovery Health called "The Worst Thing That's Ever Happened to Me" and there were very few victims of mediocre vet school interviews 😉

😱 Did they survive?!

Did they show any gore, or were the reenactments PG?

I'm finally, I think, getting over my crippling fear of commitment. A little. After damn near a year of sort-of-seeing a really awesome guy (who lives across the country but flies out here like once a month 😱), I made it Facebook official.

.............

ok that's a big deal for me alright

Also, I did very well in my first quarter of vet school. Much better than I expected to do. And I enjoyed it more than I thought I would too.

And I'm moving to a bigger place with my own bathroom.

And I'm going to the NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1, which should absolutely rock, courtesy of said Facebook-official-dude.

Life is good. 🙂

So the husband was making some lazy dinner (some frozen P.F. Chang's thing) and so he was microwaving the single serving 90 second rice-in-a-bag from Uncle Ben's to go with it. Well, he's standing there, and I see him sort of frown at the microwave. Then I see him make the "oh ****" face and open the microwave door. He jumps back just as the thing goes POW! and scatters little white grains of rice all over the kitchen floor.

Me: So you forgot to vent the bag.
Him: Um... yeah. Looks like.
Chloe: *enthusiastically eats rice off the floor*

It made my day better. Haha.

ETA: WOW, Nyan. Facebook official. That's a big step lol.

*runs off to go 'like' the status*

CorporateFatCat....I just have to say I LOVE your avatar. I giggle a little every time I see it!

It makes me lol as well! My boyfriend calls me CorporateFatCat in the real world because he knows if he shows me that picture, I'll completely forget why I was arguing with him....

I'm so happy to see all of these vet school acceptances roll in for my fellow SDNers 😀. I'm getting so pumped to re-apply in the fall, it's ridiculous. CONGRATS ALL!!!! And goodluck to everyone still waiting; it's still just the beginning.

Oh, I'm alright. I just sat with the hubs and calculated what my 'last 45' would be if I had to apply again in the fall and, assuming I do well in my spring courses, I would have a 3.4-3.6. That's not perfect (damn C stuck in there) but it's not bad either, and maybe that would help me out, especially for Minnesota.

Still rooting for you over here, too. I really hope you don't have to go through applications again.🙂 And congrats on a great semester.

In my good news - I am on community practice (which is meant to simulate general practice. I'm finding that I'm at least mostly competent to do this kind of thing, which was surprising after having my confidence shot on my last rotation (I'm beginning to believe my friends and family that it was mostly a clashing personalities thing with the clinician). But my rotation mates have taken both the ICU shifts and the emergency shifts over the weekend of Christmas so I can go to Atlanta to see family and friends. I'm lucky that they're really awesome and that they were both staying in Knoxville.

Also, getting really excited about my week of vacation that is coming up in January. We're going to Vegas as a family (brother, new sister-in-law, other brother, his gf, parents, and husband) and not doing anything vet related for a whole week. I'm not sure when the last time I had a week of not doing anything vet related was, but its probably been a decade. I think that this will really help avoid the burn-out.

And I had my first veterinary job interview the other day - and got a call back 😍. It's almost as bad as VMCAS - you apply months in advance and hope that they will call you or email you to let you know if they're even considering your application.

Grades are posted.... B+ in Biochemistry! w00t w00t 😀

Done for the semester! Let the vegetating and horse riding begin! 😀 (And neurotically checking my school's website to see if my grades are posted...)
Same here! I've slept 14 hours in the past 24 and have been checking my school's websites for grades as well. I do have to drive home tomorrow though...11 hours🙁..

After being discouraged that people were starting to hear back from a few of the schools I applied to, but my mailbox was still empty, I had a few amazing things happen today that I thought were worth sharing.

1. Grades for my vet tech courses were posted today and I got straight A's!

2. After waiting almost 3 weeks for my grade to be reported to me, today I found out I got an A in my biochemistry course through UC Berkeley online!!! (This is huge, the final was worth 60% of the course and I was terrified that I wasn't even going to pass).

3. When I got home from work tonight, there was a letter saying I had been awarded a $500 scholarship for my vet tech classes for the spring!!

I'm singing and dancing around to the Beatles right now. The only thing that would make me happier would be a vet school interview invite. Oh well, I guess I can't have it all at once...

I'm surprised how much a smile from a cute guy can make me forget about not hearing on interviews and all that. Here I am at work, dragging through the last hour of shift and about to check SDN for the morning worry-session, when the day shift Corporal pops by dispatch to say hi. He's a former soccer-star from my undergrad who's only a few years older than I. Needless to say, he's the guy who makes police uniforms look good 😀

This morning he smiled and told me I was missed at the department xmas party (I was here working) :biglove: It kinda made my morning.

Too bad he likes blonde barbies (the UCSB specialty.)

We're getting a new member of the family tomorrow!

A local vet clinic called my mom's work (an assisted living home) and asked if he home was interested in a cat. Someone had brought in a calico to be euthed and the clinic was trying to find a home for it. A couple of the residents and staff has allergies, so the home said no. Mom said yes though. According to the clinic, she's not the prettiest cat, but she's super lovable. Dad is out buying a carrier and tomorrow my mom and I are going to meet her and pick her up.

My bother suggested the name Cali (Cally? Callie? I don't know the spelling!) Urgh... reminds me of the song California Girls... I hate that song... I wonder if my mom will like Chloe instead 😛

You could make it Calliope, if they're stuck on Callie. Congrats on the addition to the fam!

Thanks 🙂

Mom actually liked Chloe. I'll post pictures when she's settled 🙂

I don't know, that sounds kind of promising to me. I think you should ask him out pronto. 👍

Very jealous of Nyanko going to the Winter Classic. That guy is obviously cool. Unless he's a Caps fan.

Nope, he's a Sabres fan. We went to the Pens/Sabres game in Buffalo last weekend. I enjoyed it thoroughly. 😎

(went to another one there last year where the Pens won too )

Congratulations lovemydobies!!!

Rave: I'm not going to have to pay for a hotel while I'm in Orlando for NAVC. I'm staying with a friend for half the time, and crashing in one of the product rep's rooms for the other half. Yay! AAAND that company rented out all of the Harry Potter land part of Universal. I'm pretty stoked.

Congrats on the engagement! (aside from getting in to vet school that's one thing I really would like for Christmas)

TT- Ben Folds in concert.... a-ma-zing. He puts on a great show. I saw him when he toured with acapella groups.... he performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.... such a great time! Have fun!

LMD - May I assume that you said 'yes'? 😉 CONGRATS!!!

Now as for you two:

Congrats, luvmydobies!!

I just bought tickets to see Ben Folds this February. 😀

Just one word: JEALOUS!!!!!!!!! TT- have a BLAST!!! 😀

I just learned that I got an A in Biochem! It was a Graduate level course and I have NEVER taken Biochem before🙂 I never thought I would get an A in Biochem, since chem is not really my strong subject. I am all smiles today.
🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

I believe this brings my Science GPA up to a 3.0 now (still not very good for *most* schools though). My last 45 will now be at a solid 3.6 after I complete my online Animal Nutrition course.

Now I just need to get my GRE quantitative score from a 690 to a 750. Time to purchase every and all Barron GRE review books! (As suggested in the above posts)

Making minor improvements...one step at a time😛

I keep getting positive feedback about this year's possibility of vet school from faculty members. I *hope* this means good news for me.....

:xf::xf::xf:

I got an A in physics!!! Totally a miracle. I slacked off the second half of the semester and did pretty mediocre for our last 2 exams, but I ROCKED the final! Wooooooo!

This is Chloe. The lighting is soo much better upstairs but she's still a little timid.

How could anyone want to put this sweet little girl down?

She was at the clinic for 7 weeks before we took her.

Anyway... she's doing great!

Every year I have a Christmas party for all my friends from high school. We drink and play Apples to Apples and Guitar Hero and just laugh and catch up and it's like having a class reunion. Last night was the fourth year in a a row that we've had it and it was probably the best one yet. I love that we can all be grown up and have different lives and live a bazillion miles away from each other and still get together like no years have passed.

The fact that I threw up for the first time EVER after a night of drinking is besides the point ;-) It was totally worth it; it was a lot of fun!

scarcelyheard- Sooo cute!

Today my best male friend got some news that made my day. I applied to Kansas because he and his boyfriend are moving there (his BF got a professorship at KU) and it sounded like a cool idea. I got an interview at Kstate back in November, and could not be happier about it, but when I asked him about his Allo application to KU, he hadn't heard. I was downhearted, since he'd withdrawn his app at UCLA (our IS) to go to Kansas, and no news just sucks. This morning, he called to tell me that they will pick me up in Kansas City and drive me to my interview! Awesomesauce, because the car rental was absurd for an under-25 and it means I don't have to book a hotel.
He then told me he got an interview at KU on Jan 24th! Woo Hoo!😀 It's going to be crazy-awesome if the three of us end up in Kansas after sunny California.

That sounds awesome, fromthebox! The only thing more exciting than moving to a new town to start a new phase in your life, is being able to do it with some great friends.

I got a 3.65 this semester and no C's, which is awesome because I had 3 C's for midterm grades. I wish I could find a way to do better at the beginning of fall semesters instead of having to stress over grades so much at the end🙄.

Decided on a list of schools for 2012 cycle (my first!). This is very scary, and is going to be very expensive 🙁

Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Penn, Tufts, Washington, Wisconsin, VMRCVM.

14 schools. Whew.

Yeah, TT. Thankfully, my parents are graciously footing the bill. I was only going to apply to 10 schools but my mom actually told me to apply to more. Oh the irony

Given my recent emo-fest about app stress and rejections, I figured it was probably time to post a rave. So, here's what I'm thrilled about this holiday season. 🙂

This guy (Thomas):

THOMASav001.jpg

will be celebrating his tenth birthday sometime in the coming year. 😀 It's beginning to look like he might actually be able to pull off something approximating a normal lifespan. (Kitteh's on 8 meds and has a file that reads like a copy of War and Peace. I don't think any of us ever considered the possibility that this might happen.) Go, Thomas!

And, last week, I woke up to this guy (Tyler):

TYLERav001.jpg

attempting to lick me to death. Cat's a "reformed feral". He's only been inside for three months. Success! 😀

And I managed to eke out a solid "B" in Statistics. Given my math skills (or lack thereof) and the brutality of the professor I ended up with... this is truly rave-worthy.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled whining. 😉

Well... it's technically been Christmas for 14 minutes here on the east coast... Merry Christmas everyone! Hope Santa brings you lots of presents! 😀

Got a 3.964 this semester! I'm almost done with prereqs-only micro bio lab, biochem and euk cell bio left!😀

After working all last week and today, I'm off for the next two days! Yay for relaxation! My chihuahua is curled up in my lap right now. Oh, how I will miss my dogs when I go back to school..

OMG! I got a B in ochem!!!

It's a holiday miracle!
