Morning Star makes DELICIOUS bacon strips. When I was a vegetarian I would make one of their "chicken" patties and put the bacon strips on it on a sandwich...mmmm 😀

One of the saddest times in my vegetarianism was when Morning Star discontinued their corn dogs. Those were delicious.

So are you a retired vegetarian then?🙄

I have a working car again, my dog is acting hilarious in this 1.5 feet deep snow, and my friends rock for letting me crash with them during the snow days until my car was functional again. Also, my metabolism quiz was pushed back and my physiology quiz was cancelled. Good times.

My follow-up rave:

I'm glad I figured out in one interview I didn't want that job, and it only took one date to figure out that guy wasn't the best!

Bullets. Dodged.

Actually, yes. I did it for two years and then I realized it just wasn't healthy for me. I was exhausted all the time, even when I was taking a multi-vitamin and a B12 supplement. I got sick often, and I gained a lot of weight because I ate tons of carbs-pasta and bread and such. I realized I don't like vegetables enough to do the vegetarian thing right. I feel SO much better now that I'm back to eating meat. I'm glad for the time I was a veggie, though, because it made me a lot more conscientious about where my meat comes from and makes me not take for granted the sacrifice the animals make so that we can have food on our plates.

Well, I'm glad you feel better now. GO MEAT!

The exact opposite happened to me.

I used to be bullied for being chubby. I stopped eating junkfood, ice cream, sugary drinks and fastfood. I also played basketball. NOTHING HAPPENED. I went vegetarian after seeing a graphic video... lost 20 pounds and grew a couple of inches. I went from a size 13 to a size 5. I've been a size 7 now for 6 years after going on medication. So I'm loving it! I eat a very varied diet though and rarely take vitamins. My bloodwork is always excellent, which must mean I'm doing something right :/

I don't know a whole lot of vegetarians or ex-vegetarians. They're a rare breed around here.

While freaking out about not being able to check-in online for my flight to Tufts tomorrow, I ended up being on hold for forty five minutes being "transferred" to someone else because the first person couldn't figure it out.

I finally hung up and called back, got a new rep, who immediately figured out that my return connecting flight wasn't actually running (and no one bothered to tell me), and switched me to a nonstop return flight. Magically I was able to check in for tomorrow, get my boarding pass, and breathe. AND she didn't charge me more for switching the flight, even though it's a nonstop instead of one with a stop now.

Two thumbs up to the Continental rep who helped me out. She absolutely saved the day. Thank you!

Aw, breenie! glad it worked out!! (Dodging bullets is such a challenge, ya know?)

LOL. Thanks, that made me smile bigger than I have all day.

I saw THE CUTEST orangutan today! We have some in quarantine at the zoo vet hospital, though I don't have to deal with them because they have their own keepers. Today I mentioned to my supervisor that I am really intimidated by orangutans, so he took me in their quarantine wing to meet them. Yes, the male was large and very scary to me! But then I saw the little lady. She was curled up on the floor wrapped up in a blanket so that only her cute little face was poking out. She just looked at us with this blanket wrapped around her head, blinking at us, and I just lost it. It's one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

Dorian's rules for vacuuming: Vacuums are for use on the cat. Attempts to use the vacuum on other items (floors, carpets, couch cushions, etc) will result in inconsolable crying until the vacuum is returned to its proper use, ie on the cat.

Today's announcement brought to you by the World's Strangest Cat:

Thanks to him, I managed to take nearly half an hour to vacuum two rooms. But he's happy!

Love it. That's hilarious.

Cuuuuute. 🙂

Does it help with shedding at least?

He is precious!

You'd think it would, but he sheds SO MUCH. OMG you have no idea. I think it at least helps with a little - cutting out the middleman, so to speak. And it's frickin adorable. He bats at the end of it, and then falls over so I can do his belly.

I've never heard of a cat that likes a vacumn!😛 If I as so much open the closet to get the vacumn, my poor kitty runs for the mountains. He has some weird vacumn radar or something. Anyway, he's usually tramatized by the whole ordeal (after I get done vacumning), and he staggers out of his hiding place 2 or 3 hours later in a daze. I don't vacumn much, but I have an excuse!!

Well, Dorian is 100% deaf since birth, so he can't hear the scary noises. 🙄 He is also SUPER rambunctious and likes to be roughhoused with and tossed across the room and such, so I think he likes the way it feels. He'll actually stick his whole nose inside the tube, which is hilarious, and get his ears sucked in and everything. He's kind of absurd.
The 3 girl-cats all think he's nuts.

I had an 18 y/o cat that liked being vacuumed! I think he was deaf too (b/c of his age). My mom tried it push him out of the way with the hose attachment one day and it turned out he liked it. It was then my chore to vacuum the cat every Sunday haha.

My kitty turns into a hissing, spitting monster when the vacuum comes out! It's hilarious that this cat loves it. Cute picture, too!

Thank you! I love his stupid face. 😍 He also walks on a leash (and loves to come get the mail with me), and knows a hand signal for "sit." During the waiting period after my interviews I may have to teach him more tricks.

Whyevernot55, I think he is gorgeous! And you can tell by the way he looks at you that he adores you just as much as you do him👍

I have short hair again! 😀

It's not super short. But way shorter than it's been in the last, like, eight years. I love it.

I am watching 30 Rock right now, and DYING LAUGHING.

Particularly the episode 214, "Sandwich Day."

So. Funny.

Yay I'm on an interview high right now, can't stop smiling! 😀
... though am too excited to actually get going on preparing for interviews. Party time? Except everyone else is busy with school, so I'll have to spin in circles around my room with my dog.

I have a cat who knows how to sit and walks on a leash too. 🙂 He doesn't like the vacuum cleaner though. He follows it from a distance when I run it, like he'll sit just around a corner and watch intently or jump up on a table and stare down at it.

He's darker now though..

Wow, your cat is super cute.

It's 4 in the morning and I had a sudden burst of inspiration an hour ago, and I have my first draft of my personal statement completed!!!!!!! :soexcited::clap::highfive::claps::woot::biglove:

It's probably absolute crap and it's currently 631 characters over 5000, but it's DONE! And it's not the worst thing I've ever written. And now to bed.

Mom put our cat on a leash a couple of weeks ago and took her into the nursing home to visit the residents. Our cat was supposed to go to the home, but a few of the staff had allergies. There was a resident there who used to own cats and couldn't wait for mom to bring our cat in.

She passed away a week later.

Our cat was pretty good on a leash.

Oh yeah... almost forgot... mom took her to the vet to get her needles and apparently someone abandoned her with kittens at the clinic. Staff came to work that morning and found a basket full. A couple of hours after taking the kittens in, our cat showed up at the door and was clawing to get in.

She has this white felt cylinder "mouse" filled with catnip that she carries around the house with her like a kitten. It's sad. It's starting to fall apart now. We can't get a replacement. It was one of Susie's old toys that she didn't like and I got it from a local pet store that has been closed for years.

I woke up to that darn thing in my bed, on my spot on the sofa, underneath my blankets...

Oh yeah... she has a blanket fetish too. She'll crawl in between the covers on mom's bed and fall asleep in the middle. Back when I was home, I'd curl up with a blanket while watching tv. She'll crawl under that and spoon my leg. She's sooo cute. I miss her.

When we moved into a new subdivision they had rules about all pets on a leash when outdoors (even cats!) My older cat had never even seen a leash but I went and got one and thought I would try it out. I clipped it to his collar and carried him outside. He was a little confused that I was outside with him because I usually just open the door and let him out at our old house. Well he is usually a very mellow/clam cat. When he felt the resistance as soon as he was at the end of the leash he FREAKED!! It was like he was fighting a badger in a barrel!!!! When he finally got tired and calmed down a little, I just unclipped the the leash and he ran off. He didn't come back until the next evening. The groundskeeper saw him running about that next day and we got a fine.

So Kudos to those of you that have a cat that will walk on a leash, but I will never do that again😳

Protip: do not put the leash on a collar of a cat, use a harness or walking jacket instead. guess you learned that the hard way 😉

Dear lord yes! Even with the harnesses on, my two older girls Do Not Do leashes. They turn into whirling dervishes.
It should also be noted that it takes a LONG time to train an adult cat to take a harness and leash. I started my guy relatively young, and he's got the right kind of temperament for it. It still took weeks of work before I even let him come out of the apartment to go downstairs and get the mail. He's never been outside in it, because I'm paranoid. 🙄

Made that mistake once with our old cat. It was not cool.

ETA: Yay, just received a $400 scholarship. That makes my day!

1) I'm petsitting an adorable bulldog and four cats for a classmate this weekend - it's so nice to have an animal fix since mine are all back at home!

2) I participated in necropsy at the hospital this morning and the resident let me do the cat necrospy all by myself!

3) There's a baking competition at school this week - brownies for the brownie Oreo cheesecake are just about to come out of the oven. 🙂

4) I see my guy next weekend!!!

5) Said guy is planning some super-secret big trip for my week off of school in May. Can't wait!

6) Life is goooood.

Love the kitty cat pictures!! 😍
Personal side note: Turning one's life around is a constant thing to practice. But I'm feeling more positive about it. It's nice to be away from school & know that, today, I get to go home and snuggle with my kitty😀

I can't believe time is flying so much!! Once March gets here, I would like it to slow down.....

Beautiful cat 🙂

Major rave..I got a 69.5% on my organic II test. Yes yes, I know, this grade isn't great by any means, but it's my first passing test grade for organic II. I took it last semester and my highest test score was a 36%, so this is a major improvement :soexcited:

To say I'm actually starting to understand the material may be overstating things, but my brain is starting to absorb some of this crap!

That is awesome!! What a great feeling!

I love my metabolism class. For some reason I just really enjoy it and can't wait to kick the crap out of this test on Tuesday. Well, after I know TCA a little more thoroughly... Anyway, the professor is just awesome and I love how she relates things to medical conditions. If only I could convince my physiology professor to leave so she could teach it... (she's an MD/PhD, with her PhD in physiology so she would be absolutely amazing).

😀 Congrats! I hate organic, and when I took Orgo I, my highest test mark was a 55. So a 69.5 is huge to me!

A small rave of my own: Thank you, SDNers for introducing me to OneNote. A bunch of my profs post their notes in .pdf form, and I don't like printing them and taking notes that way, but it's a pain in the butt to study both from their slides and my own separate notes on my netbook. I love that OneNote does screen clips, so I can combine everything. I have a trial now which will last for the rest of the term, and then I'm seriously considering buying it.

Today I went to a spa and got an 80 minute hot stone massage using the gift certificate my brother got me for Christmas (best little brother EVER). I also slept ~10 hours last night so I am feeling great! Last week I prepped a LOT for my interview, including going to a mock interview at career services, even though it was a really busy school week. I took a great picture for my headshot (is that what you call it?) with my doxie, my skin is all cleared up, I got my suit put together (finally!), and my hotel is booked. I am feeling super ready and pumped for my interview on Tuesday! I can't wait to show them who I am off paper! 😀

Study week starts on the 18th and to kick it off, I'm heading down to see Great Big Sea play at the Canada Games on the 19th. WOO! I've been dying to see them in concert for a really long time.

TAAAAKKKE ME WITH. I saw them once a couple of years ago. It was a GREAT time!

We have the same break... but I agreed to stick around and work on my thesis *headdesk* The significant other is heading up this way though, and I'm helping my Girl Guides earn their Tasty Treats badge at our group's sleepover, and, if I'm not feeling twitchy, I may go out and have a couple of drinks. So, it shouldn't be too bad. I think I would rather be home with my kitteh though.
