Learned today that I make awesome cookies. Yep, love myself!

So, this afternoon I found one of our dogs in heat. I went to tell the room caretaker simply so he wouldn't be alarmed by the blood (we rarely have female dogs on hand much less ones that go into heat). The look I got was quite quizzical and the rest of the staff decided to chime in: She's on her period... Just leave her alone. You have a wife, don't you?... Why don't we just put a diaper on her?... etc...

Anyway, he finally 'got it' and then looked at me quite seriously and asked the following:

"LMMS, can I still feed her?"

It took everything I had not to totally crack up at the poor guy. So, I politely answered his question and then quickly slinked into my office to LMAO! :roflcopter:

After a complete fiasco of Horse Transportation Arranging (complete with hurricanes, food poisoning, miscommunication, and broken-down trucks in Tennessee), my horse made it to MA from Cleveland tonight.

Not only that, but he arrived with all 4 shoes firmly attached 😱, all limbs attached, and not bleeding profusely from ANYWHERE.

:xf: that this is still true by tomorrow night and he hasn't decided to injure himself in some new, fun way.

I'm starting to get a good studying routine. :] Not quite getting it with sleeping, but maybe eventually I'll just turn abnormal and don't need sleep anymore to survive. Or I'll just be realistic and go to bed and tell myself it's ok. Eventually. 😀 But so far so good. I am happy with my progress. :]

Good job, BirdNird, btw. 🙂

Yay for study routines! I highly recommend being realistic and going to bed. Your body will thank you in the end, and you won't end up the only person awake at 330 am and so bored on a regular basis. However, I might be biased as I haven't seen my circadian rhythm in six years....

don't think being bored will be a problem: My roommate is right there with me, studying also. lol And I'm never up just because, there's always something to do, and if not, after work I'm so tired I could always sleep. haha

Omg, do we have the same life? I'm trying to get mine shipped from WI > MO, and so far she's shown up lame, my shipper was hospitalized, her shipping was delayed so her health certificate was invalid, they loaded her on the trailer and then she got loose...

She's currently in a layover in WI before she ships out on Monday... but goddamnit, if I get my horse, it will be a miracle.

Glad yours is one piece!!!! 🙂 It gives me hope.

The "Where the Hell is Matt?" guy is coming to Helsinki (where I'm studying abroad) on Monday to film for his newest video! Totally going and dancing poorly.

For context: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

This is one of my favorite youtube videos. It gives me faith in humanity. Thanks for the reminder it existed. I just reposted to my facebook page! 🙂

Haha that's my anatomy lab group!! and I'm in it (briefly) as well!!

Also my RAVE:

Off to London tomorrow til Thursday!!! WOOOOO!!! 😀

does that mean you get to skip the path test too? 😀

We got our first anatomy exam grades back (exam was yesterday), and not only did I pass, but I got a grade I am very pleased with 🙂

I won a $500 spending spree from a company!!! I'm getting a new computer!

Mariano Rivera just recorded his 601st save! Now tied with the great Trevor Hoffman for the most saves ever, it's obvious that Rivera will stand alone at the top of the list come the season's end.

WAY TO GO, MO! 😀

All that studying last weekend for that calculus test I was so terrified of wasn't a waste of time! I got an 89 on it! 😀

I got a paid position at a vet clinic today!!!! I am so excited because I've had a hell of a time begging for job shadowing and I've been feeling a little down recently but this makes me feel like I'm making progress. Woo! School starts next Monday too so I have a full plate this year and I can't be happier. Yay! :woot::clap:

That's awesome!

Yesterday while driving, my check engine light came on. I called a mechanic based on reviews off Google (reliable, right?) at about 12:20. They told me to come on in at 1. I did, they checked, called the Honda dealership in town, gave me a quote for a new gas cap because it turned out mine was broken, told me a gasoline additive I should consider using, and didn't charge me at all. I think I was out of there by 1:15.

Plus, they had a dog who jumped up to the counter to greet me and she was adorable!

I met the cutest dog today! It was a minature bull terrier and the happiest dog I've ever seen. I didn't even knew they exist. And oddly, he had a tattoo accross his belly that said Lab Rat. Apparently his previous owners were tattoo artists. Just to be clear, I do not condone at home tattoos for dogs but now that it's several years old and he's no longer with those people, it's somewhat neat and unique.

I placed my first IV catheter today :soexcited:. I've been working at a vet clinic since February and just waiting for this day and finally it came :soexcited:. I got the catheter in first try and placed a total of 3 today 🙂. The hardest part was shaving for the catheter, I am really bad with the clippers 🙁, the actual catheter placement part was a breeze. One was even a euthanasia cat with horrible blood pressure and I got it in first try with no trouble. Super excited that I'll be able to place catheters sometimes now instead of always being the one to have to wrestle the patients down and hold them.

Both my LA Practicum and my Companion Animal Care tests were easy. Much better than expected. 😎

I get to sleep now too because I only have a calc quiz to study for next week and I know what we're doing! 😳

I also got a call from the Guide Dog Foundation finally to become a puppy walker. I'm so excited for that! 😍

And: My work place just sent out an e-mail about making another intramural team and I'm seriously thinking about joining. How cool would it be to be on a quidditch team!?!

Too cute Ellie G! How did your first day go?

I got "knot certified" through the shelter med club today. I now have a license to castrate. 😀 (On cats, with supervision in a controlled setting, insert disclaimer here. Yay castration!)

my core group of friends here consists of 3 girls and one guy. one of the girls did vet stuff in belize during her undergrad and has done dog and cow castrations there. she LOVES taunting our guy friend with this knowledge and skill just for fun (and we get a huge laugh out of his reaction every time!)

(leave the ethics out of it please, i don't agree with the program but it's beside the point!)

I might have a huge immunology exam tomorrow and my show dairy heifer may be a pain in the rear, but I am such a lucky girl. I am so grateful for all of the wonderful people in my life. 😍

Did AWESOME on the first two exams of the semester-- soooo happy, and pretty sure I did quite well on the third as well 🙂 One of them is the same professor we had for a class last year-- and I did HORRIBLE on every single exam then. This semester is definitely shaping up to be 1000x better than spring semester was, grades wise. LOVE second year

And two of my favorite people in the whole world are coming to visit me next week, and actually spending some time here instead of just coming down for a couple hours or a day! I've known one of them 10+ years, but havent seen her more than once a year in about 4 years. Just saw her last week and now I get to see her again!

over the last couple of months, I have been slowly introduced to how awesome google accounts is! gmail, google voice, and google docs were the first couple of things i learned. this week its been google chat and google+'s video chat (which is 1000x better than skype). still need to figure out google+ (since i've had it for months now...) but WOAH google is AWESOME!! 😀

95% certain I'm going to Greece during my school break - touristing it up for a few days, then volunteering at a wildlife rehab for a week or so. Very excited. 😀

It's so great to see all the successes people are having, especially in vet school. Although I'm older, I hope to be posting good things like this next fall. For now, I am glad that my kids are doing well in their lives. I got an email from my son the other day thanking me for being supportive to him and telling me that he would never be where he is today (in law school) without me. So, don't forget to thank your parents for all they've done...it means so much to us.

MY BOYFRIEND IS VISITING MY BOYFRIEND IS VISITING AHHHHH HE WILL BE HERE IN A FEW HOURS!!!!!

raveraverave.

small rant: now to do all the laundry and clean and maybe study so i don't have to this weekend? ahhh!!!

Well, it's been two weeks since several gallons of Tropical Storm Lee crashed through my ceiling, and today it is raining in Philadelphia *without* raining in my bedroom.

:soexcited:

I've got a temporary fix (as temporary as it gets: the landlord nailed a tarp to the roof), but anything that keeps Mother Nature outdoors where she belongs is a big improvement.

When I was in an LDR last year, my SO did the laundry and cleaned whenever he came here. Moral is train him right and you don't have to do those things. 😉

edit: Now he lives here and does those things more often.

Oooh, girl, you got it good. I'll have to work on that!

On the same theme: Just order over $150 of food for my pooches and didn't pay a cent! YAY!! And just to prove that they aren't brainwashing me, I ordered one dog Purina and the other one got Hill's. 😉 (ok..well, in reality, I had to order form both companies to get enough food but that's besides the point)

Yay for vet school perks! 🙂

holy crap, how big are your dogs... and how many do you have 😱

There are only two, and one of them is a chihuahua! Deb, you aren't feeding the husband dog food again, are you? :nono:

Well I certainly hope Deb's not skimming on loans so much that she and her husband also have to subsist on free dog food

That's what all those free lunches are for! 😛

*sigh*
FINE. you want the whole story? I'll give you the WHOLE story!
Chihuahua - best food I've ever fed her is Hill's Nature's Best - she looks FABULOUS on it and really really likes it. However, I can only order it in 12 or 22# bags which leaves me no space to buy the doberman's food because she needs the 32# bag of d/d (you can only order 40# total from Hill's)....SOOO..

I switched the dobie over to Purinas derm diet AND you can only buy 1 item from them. 🙂

So end order ended up being:

32# of drm for Dobie from Purina
(2) 12# bags of food for the chihuahua from Hill's (I'm saving up for summer ok?)
and a small bag of t/d (hill's) because although I understand that you have to feed it has a main diet for it to work, I get a huge kick out of watching the chihuahua try to eat it and I refuse not to "purchase" my FULL 40# worth of food. I may have to build a shed outside to keep all the food I'll have by Spring....

Happy now????
