My boyfriend just booked a flight to come visit me in two weeks! I'm so excited!!!!!!😀😀😀😀😀 😍😍It will give me the opportunity to give him the final nudge to move up here:xf:

Also, thanks Emiloo for reminding me to do my laundry (rant thread). Now I won't have to go to school in PJs tomorrow.

NHL game center live. LOVE on-demand hockey whenever I want, especially since I can watch the PENS instead of those stinky Flyers.

hahaha I'm glad my rant post was so helpful to so many people . Too bad I can't seem to help myself +pity+

i vote SDN takes a stand against this and nags you until you get it done emiloo :meanie: reminds me of a roommate i used to have who would hold out for 6-8 weeks before she'd do laundry! living in grenada now i have about 1.5 weeks worth of clothes and laundry is only reliably open on the weekends (washing beach towels today-who says exercise has to be hard? 😀)

Ok, so I don't have THAT much laundry to do lol. I actually did 2 loads this morning, but I'm just tired of being tired and pathetic. I gotta kick my arse into gear! Thanks for the SDN stand though 😉. If you want to help, you can nag me until I start my animal nutrition and animal science courses!!! That would be much more helpful!!! 😀

well maybe this will motivate you:

my roommate took an animal science class and LOVED all the random stuff she learned in it (one assignment even sent her to the grocery store to look at cuts of meat!)

and i thoroughly enjoyed vet school nutrition, and a lot of my classmates were appreciative of previous encounters with the material.

SO GET WORKING! 😀

Haha ok. I know it will be very interesting, I'm just struggling to start the process which seems to be the hardest part. Once I get started I like the things I'm learning... It's the getting started part I don't do well. Better get over that before August 😀

So I am really scared of mice when they are in my house but okay in a work setting or as someone else's pets.

Today for the first time in months a mouse came in my house and I was home alone and so scared but I set up the Havahart trap just in case... 3 minutes later he was trapped! And then I realized I had to do something with him... I was so brave and took him to the park and let him free without letting him touch me... SO SCARY but now he lives in the park and not my house!

Glad you let him live 🙂

I have found a shelter vet to shadow and my 13 day old kitten is recovering from her prolapsed rectum, purse string still intact, and her eyes are opening 🙂

I already knew I could watch a prof here do equine research, but another vet told me yesterday that I could help with her food animal research over the summer! She said she doesn't know which animal she will use, but definitely food animal. i'm hoping cattle. 😍

I have wanted this all season!!! But couldn't afford it. I wonder how cheap it is now that the season is getting to the end?? I miss seeing my Pens all the tiiiiime. And ick, flyers. Poo.

Emi, I still have to start my animal nutrition course too. Grrrrrr.

here's your nutrition course motivation: when you get here and have to deal with Dr. Wiseman, you will be sooooooo glad you've at least seen the material before 😀

If you get started soon, it means you'll finish faster and have more time to relax before the start of vet school classes. Wouldn't it sucks to have to hurry through the assignments and the only have a little time left to move and start classes right away? Do it now and then give yourself some time to relax to go into vet school in a good mood. 🙂

Yeah that's exactly what I've been trying to do... since September :-/. I want to finish them both in the next two months because not only do I want to relax, but I also have to pack and move across the country lol.

Exactly. What courses are they? I'm trying to do some of my stuff online, so I'm trying to see if they would be accepted for my major..

Even more motivation: if I finish the course and get an awesome grade, my chances of not having I do the vet foundation semester are higher 😀 I really reeeeeally want to start the DVM in August......

I'm taking Animal Nutrition through Ok State. I think its ANSI 3543 and Animal Science through Murray State AGR 100. They are both correspondence, not online. You have 52 weeks to complete them, but they can be done in 6-8 weeks if you really have to.

How much to I really need to study for these exams lol (I only need a C)?

Ehhhh I hardly studied and pulled off a B. A low B, but a B nonetheless. Some of those tests have random and obscure questions thrown in, but as long as you look over that ridiculous course guide and do the homework questions you should be good.

Ok thanks!👍😀

Ok so it's not optimum circumstances but I came back to Cali to help my mom with my grandma's stuff and I get to spend 2 days just me and my mama! Also I got a 99 on my lab practicum yesterday even amid the funeral and travel chaos!

HARRY POTTER ON KINDLE 😍:biglove: hehe not that owning all the books and audiobooks was enough 😉 yay!

I am super jazzed. Just donated a ton of clothes to Goodwill, and they let me pilfer their giant bin of cardboard boxes! Oh, the things that are exciting when you have an upcoming move! Forget the lottery! FREE BOXES!!

Lol, I got an email from Barnes&Noble about it the day they became available - I have a Nook and am a B&N member, so I get these things. Then I bounced up and down a lot and bought them all immediately.

I raided my father's office when I was moving. They had HUGE bags of shredded paper from the shredding machine. They were amazing for packing fragile things (or anything semi breakable, or awkward shaped) and best of all- completely free! The school actually has to pay to dispose of them (Special dumpster and all that) so they were thrilled to have me take some off their hands. Plus, my father saved all the boxes from computer paper, and new computers and any other box that crossed through his department.
(And then after I moved, he insisted on stacking them all in my garage rather than letting me hand them off to the next person I saw). So about 1/2 my garage is a giant mountain of empty boxes and totes.

So, I got the boxes and officially started packing today. And by "packing," I mean "reading random excerpts from every interesting book I come across".

Also, I am jealous of your garage, cowgirl. Super jealous.

I wish I could already move, but we haven't found a house yet. 🙁

And I did that all the time when I was moving here from Germany, soopr. Too many good books to not stop and read. haha

Oh, Petpony, don't even talk about a HOUSE. We went from a 3 bed, 2.5 bath house in Columbus, OH, to a 2 bed, 1 bath apartment here, and are now moving into a 1 bed, 1 bath apartment in Philly. I miss my house, but I am so glad to get rid of all this junk we have accumulated!

Pro tip: don't ever get more space than you need, unless you are planning to fill it with roommates or babies (I shudder at the thought of both). You will accumulate more things than you will ever, ever need or use.

I'll hopefully be here for 7 more years at least and we think it would be a waste of money to rent that entire time, which is why we are buying a house. I don't want to live in an apartment that whole time and I don't want to spend my money on buying an apartment, because I know I wouldn't wanna stay in it after school is over. In the house, I could stay if I found a job here.

We're gonna have roommates, because that will bring in enough money to pay cover our monthly payments for the house. We might have to pay a little bit for the bills, but the rest will be payed for.

PetPony, I think I wasn't super clear! I wasn't saying don't get a house, I was saying I miss my house! We still own it and we hope to move back after I finish vet school - good luck with your house hunt! I hope you find the perfect home!

I have not been online that much lately. Since my vet school rejection, I have been busy finishing up classes and having the time of my life. That guy I met on an online dating site? I am convinced we are soul mates. I have never been this comfortable with somebody so soon and he treats me very well. 😀. I have been having sooo much fun getting to know him. Since the bus strike was lifted, I have also been getting out more with my friends before exams hit.

I have decided to stay in the city I am in now, rather than gain residency in a province that will slightly increase my chances of getting into vet school. There are better job prospects here, my friends are here and the man is only an hour away. After grades come out, I am going to work on improving my GRE for the next application cycle and work on paying down the debt I racked up. If I am still unsuccessful, I think I may go the Masters route and upgrade for vet school while I do that.

I am very happy right with life right now. I cannot wait to stop living with my ex (haha), find a place to live and find a job.

You sound just like where I was 2.5 years ago! Life was totally in the dumps still living with my good for nothing cheating ex, and I felt trapped without much to do or places to go. Then bam! Random stranger comes out of nowhere and every week thereafter was full of fun and exciting new experiences. Seriously the best time of my life! And 2.5 yrs later my bf and I are as close as ever and talk about our future a lot. Couldn't be happier, but I'd give up almost anything to re-experience the magic that was the first 6 months or so! The too good to be true, must pinch my cheeks and make sure it's not a dream moments that keep happening over and over and over. I'm so happy for you!

That's great news, Trematode!

And thanks, soopr. I totally understand missing your house. My mom already moved into the third house here, but none of them feel like home, like our house in Germany did. We are selling it now and I am very upset about it, but it does help pay for my new one here..

I know! Those first few month with my bf were the best time we have ever had. Not one moment where I didn't feel like smiling, thanks to him. I love him even more now and our relationship is stronger, but it doesn't have that magic of newness. haha

My rave: Three paycheck month this month....😀

Also, I had an AMAZING day off today!!! I have to work tomorrow but idiot doctor does not work so I don't have to worry about wanting to punch him in the face and I have plans to go roller skating with a friend/coworker on Saturday!! 😀

Could not be happier right now (unless I win the 540 million dollar lottery and get to quit my job).
