At SOV and Lissa - I am jealous you can nap! Every so often I think it's a good idea but I always, without fail, feel worse following a nap than I did going into it. As a result I haven't taken a nap in ages ...

I can't really nap either.. If I am going to sleep, then it had better be for the night. My idea of a "nap" is what most consider relaxing... Laying on the couch watching a movie or TV for an hour or so. That is a "nap". 🙂

I am not normally a "napper," and if I do it is long, like today. And I am groggy when I wake up.

Usually if I "nap" it is because I am getting physically run down. Of course, that sounds like the whole semester for me so far.

Story of my life....

Rave: It is time for bed! and I feel like I have a little bit of a better handle on immunology now. Still positive that I will leave out or add in a b or 3 when talking about complement, but it will be close enough. 🙂

I can't nap unless I have a minimum 2.5 hours, preferably 3-4 hours to sleep. If I have less than 1 hour, forget it. At that point, I just toss and turn and brain worries about missing my alarm. I get up not rested and feeling like I just wasted an hour that I could have been doing something else productive.

I've found I have the same problem. Napping gives me a headache, makes me nauseated and more groggy than before I fell asleep. It's not as bad if I nap in someplace less comfortable than my bed for <30min, but I still don't feel great.

This is me. I have lots of friends who can nap. They flop in bed or on a sofa and they're out like a light and wake up 30-45 minutes later all refreshed. In the time they nap, I wouldn't even be asleep. And yeah, I wake up feeling groggy and usually with a headache and then I don't sleep well that night either.

After a month of coughing and congestion, I have finally be given antibiotics!!!
Also, I'm super excited to be collecting samples from deer to test for CWD in two weeks. Just have to figure out how I'm getting to Delaware.

Surgery wears me out. I had it 2 days this week. I had to get up a couple times last night to pee and got leg cramps. Combine all that + lots of Mexican food + pregnancy and you get the ability to nap anytime, anywhere.

My older cat has been laying in my lap for a couple hours(off to the side, laptop gets actual lap 😉 ). She loves to bat at my 'mouse hand' while I type or click. All the sudden she stopped doing it and I look down and she is fast asleep. 😍

Hear, hear! Story of my life last year.

Story of my life this year....busier than ever semester+baby that eats three times a night+too many professors that turn the lights out...I have perfected the art of the 15 minute during class catnap.

4 day weekend. Even though I will be studying for my two finals next week, it feels awesome to not be dealing with death by PowerPoint this morning.
And I finally get to enjoy Chic-fil-a breakfast!!

My friend set her FB profile picture to her preg checking a cow. It's glorious. The expression on her face makes it

It has been a long 3 months 😛. And now there is suddenly a rush to get everything done. But thanks for all the happy thoughts.😀

Congrats, dyachei! :soexcited:

I also have the world's most absolutely amazing mentor and I am thankful for her every single day. 😍😍 Took me out to lunch today as a celebration for my GRE scores and we're looking closer at my grad-school list and tweaking it and she's so amazing. :soexcited: And totally behind me every step of the way.

My family is sick of hearing about it, so now it's your guys' turn.

Squeezing the ruminal contents is really fun...smell inside and then imagine it 10X more acrid...and then you know what a bloated cow/sheep/goat and its belches smell like. 😉

Seriously though, isn't production animal the best!!!

It's so... squishy and yet not squishy. 😍 It's like squeezing a handful of curds in whey. Got to do it once, coolest thing ever, poking a hole in the cow's side and reaching in. 👍

I get to work today! I love when I get the rare chance to go into a clinic and talk to clients and "practice" medicine. I say practice medicine, because that's what it is. I'm still learning so I just talk to the doctors about what I think and what they think and see if I can develop a good ddx list and treatment plan.

So much better than sitting in a classroom for 8 hours

Nice Nyanko! Where in the world did you get that?

Had an AMAZING wet lab today. Got to do nerve blocks on real live horses!
Also got to practice joint injections of pretty much all the leg joints, DDF tenotomy, and neurectomy on not-so-live-horses. Got to play with the arthroscope, go thru lameness exams and flexion tests and hoof testers and all that jazz too. It was awesome and the whole "real horse / real horse parts" really helped it sink in vs the textbook descriptions of "palpate X and poke at Y"

$19/hour for working overtime. Yes, I shall.

I found the boardgame I wanted years for half-price at a box store that is closing, and a pair of Converse for $30 at the Canadian equivalent of Ross. And Lush has their Christmas soaps out now. Great mall haul yesterday.

You must have one lower case letter, SDN does not allow all caps. If I want something in all caps I will usually type what I want in all caps and then underneath that I will put a lower-case letter in white so that way no one can see it and I can keep my all caps. 🙂

I had no idea there WAS a wetlab - otherwise you know I would have been all over that!

That sucks 🙁 I shoulda mentioned it when I didnt see your name on the list. They sent a thing around in class a while ago, but I think the follow up emails only went out to the people on that list.

I had nothing major to get done this weekend so I spent it cuddled up on the couch, watching TV and knit these puppies! They have one big cable down the middle and two smaller ones down each side, but it's hard to see in this pic.

I left a small box of chocolates in a small drawer in my dresser that I use maybe weekly and just found it again. Every time I open it, I have a chocolate, put it back, and then completely forget that it's there. Yay good excuse to eat chocolate!

I asked my boss today if I can go on a flexible work arrangement ... essentially working 4 10 hour days and having Fridays off instead of working 9 hour days and having every other Friday off. I'm nervous about his response :scared:

This is a rave because it's a step in the right direction in changing careers!! (if he approves it of course 🙄)

He just doesn't need to know it's because I'm working at a vet hospital part time and working on vet school pre-reqs. As far as he is concerned it's because I am taking pre-reqs to apply to MBA programs 😛

Send me :luck:!!!
