I just got the dress I'm going to wear for graduation, and I love it! It's a light linen-y fabric that won't be too hot and it's got pockets and it's a lovely shade of green. I tried it on with the shoes I'll be wearing and I love the way it looks! 😀

Yay! 🙂

I got to spend two hours today spinning with the spinner's guild I'm a member of at a festival today, and one of the other members let me use her wheel, and another gave me some Jacob wool - it's fantastic! 😀

Saw The Great Gatsby last night. The movie was hard to follow at first but I would totally recommend it! Was wonderful. Doesn't follow the book in some aspects but for me that's fine lol. Leonardo is stunning and perfect, as always.

Ok good to know! My parents are super skeptical about it as they feel loyal to the original and don't want to see it ruined.

I just made the most amazing salad. Mixed greens, chopped cucumber I had in the fridge and toasted raw cashew pieces. I then piled on some warm lentils, fried tempeh cubes splashed with soy sauce and hot sauce and topped it all with a quick peanut dressing I threw together (peanut butter, sesame oil, siracha, water, rice vinegar, and agave). I love when I throw a bunch of stuff together and it turns out well 😀

Slightly belated -- but thanks, everyone! We graduated today so I am now officially Dr. Cuit!! :woot:

I'm still working out what I'm doing this next year. But I'll get it figured out eventually 🙂

I start my first shift at the wildlife center next Sunday. I can't wait to handle the education birds and possibly help with surgeries!

Walked across the stage today and officially received my BA!!

:biglove::biglove::claps::clap::highfive::soexcited::soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:

I DID IT! After so much trouble and stress and /everything/. I graduated, was accepted to my top choice MA/PhD, and will start fully funded in the fall (1300 miles away from where I am now).

Now, to not curl up in a ball and cry...that is the next step...

(I hate change. Will miss my mentor dreadfully much.)

:hardy: Congrats to everyone who is graduating! I've got my last two finals today, then it's summer vacay until vet school begins in August!

Super productive today - stained the front porch and started to finish up the last bits inside the house. Almost done! Also planted my herb garden

Yahoo!!!! I have a 93% (that's an A by my professor's grading scheme) in my chemistry lab so I don't have to take the final. Yippee, yippee 😀

why doesn't my physics class do this right now 🙁

It was a heck of a surprise to me! Apparently the final is only 5% of our grade so I would have to bomb it to drop my grade to a B which would be unlikely since I've gotten B+s and As on all the labs and the midterm.

I seriously wish my chemistry class was operating the same way. Our final is worth 30% of our grade, and the class average for last year's final was 50%. That was the average. Studying for my final has been terrifying, especially since I can't get motivated enough to really focus on it. And its in 21.5 hours 😛

Do you go to U of M? I went there for undergrad and all of my science finals were brutal. I took engineering physics (contemplated going into ChemE for a moment) and the average on the final was a 40% even though we were allowed to bring a sheet of paper with whatever we wanted on the front and back. :scared: I actually did really well, but still... why did it have to be that difficult?!:meanie:

Yep - just for some pre-reqs I missed during undergrad. Plus this chemistry class - it's gen chem 2 (and at my undergrad we just had 1 semester of gen chem, so I've already done organic and biochem) but it is seriously kicking my butt. It's just really disheartening to take an exam that is 20 MC questions with fake out answers - I always run out of time on these tests (and usually I'm a fast test taker - finished my 3 hour physics final in 1 hour) and make all kinds of small stupid mistakes (like finding the amount of gas that escapes vs the amount left, which is of course also an answer in the MC options). Of all the classes I've taken, this is easily my 3rd least favorite (following Orgo II and Honors Calc II).

Whoops this is supposed to be a rave... well it's supposed to get into the 90's today! And in 13.5 hours I will be done with undergrad courses FOREVER 😀 Assuming I pass this final of course...

What is the point of a final if its 5%? Why would anyone study unless they were borderline failing? That's silly.
I guess I'm just getting used to finals being 100% of my grade and slightly bitter about it 😀

Seriously. My cumulative physics final is worth 45% of our grade. grumble grumble grumble. 😡

I mean, I personally think finals should be the majority of your grade, just maybe not 100% from 40 questions 🙄

I'm fine with it being a large-ish percentage (I just dislike physics...) but 100% is crazy! Way too much pressure for one exam. What happens if you're sick?!

Yikes! It's weird how my school does it - the chemistry lecture and lab are separate classes. Our final for lecture is 35% of our grade so you bet I'm studying a lot! 👍

I'm so excited to move! I'm trying to figure out some of the logistics... emailing the landlord about our move-in date, looking at how much the UHaul is going to cost, thinking about when to start packing! I can't wait. I wish I could start packing now but 2.5 months out is probably a little too early 😎

That's how my uni did it too, for chem and ochem at least. Lecture is a three hour class, lab is a one hour class, totally separate. For bio and physics though, they're combined for a four hour class grade.

Odd, this is backwards from how they did it at my undergrad. Lecture was an hour or hour and a half and lab was 3 hours.... this was for chemistry, physics and biology. Basically all science classes that had a lab component were like this.

I'm guessing FS meant hour as in credit hours, which makes sense that way. Because, otherwise, I agree, that's just weird.

Yes, credit hours. Lab = 1 credit. Lecture = 3 credits.

Actual class time was lecture either twice a week for 75 minutes, or three times a week for 50 min, and one 3 hour long lab per week.

We had a separate class for Organic lab too. Though it was 2 credits and 5 hrs. I wanted to shoot myself every Monday afternoon.

It ended up working well for people that failed the lecture and then didn't have to re-take the lab again (though obviously that wouldn't be an ideal situation). Or re-take lecture for a better grade too.

Did you just have one semester of lab then? Lab was 1 credit hour, but there were two labs to take, one to accompany each lecture class for ochem I & II.

Two labs as well, though there were significantly less people in II. The pre-vet track was more ag + prereqs, so only double bio majors or students wanting to apply to vet schools requiring it were taking it (along with any bio/health majors). And 1-5 pm is 4 hrs, my bad.

Total Awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A belated cheers and round of Huzzahs for both of you and well wishes on moving ahead.

Maybe silly, but I got an essay back yesterday that I was really worried about. Well, I got an A, AND my prof said (after class) that mine was the strongest in the class! I needed the confidence boost, that's for sure! 🙂

we got 5 points back on our final exam that more than 25% of our class failed yesterday (only 20 of my 74 person class got at least a B on the exam...). good riddance pathology! i will not miss it. 5 people are still failing the class though :-/

Baby Liss slept really good last night which means I slept really good.

Isn't that feeling grand! 👍 You never know what sleep deprived really means until you have a baby.

'(I can say out of experience, even though I've never given birth. Took care of my friends newborn while she got her life straightened out. [baby was a bit of a surprise])

Today is my sweet, precious, stubborn girl's 8th Birthday! She got me through a time in my life that no one else could and she's been an awesome "girl's best friend." Love her to a level beyond rational or healthy 😀

My twinnie from undergrad (who is my best guy friend from undergrad's little sister) just got accepted to med school in Philly. Super excited that I get to see her next year!
