Curious..did you guys end up getting the cages for $26? If so that's an awesome deal!

Nope, they had the prices fixed the next morning, and sent out an email canceling the order that afternoon. It does say on their website that they will do that if they make a pricing error online and if the order is still being processed...but it would've been sweet if they hadn't caught it before it shipped!

got to use an orthopedic drill for the first time today...yikes! cool case though - we did arthroscopy of the stifle to confirm tearing of the CCL before doing a TPLO.

My friend's was cancelled via an email that said it was a pricing error. He just planned on reselling it though, so no big deal.

Bummer! I'm sure they knew something was up when they had a 1000% + increase in sales of one particular cage...

Neato. Orthopedic stuff is pretty cool. I've seen extracapsular CrCL repairs before, but never a TPLO or TTA.

Was the meniscus damaged?

I am so happy at my summer job. It's amazing how I don't dread going to work every day like I did at the SA hospital and how I'm learning so much about the field I want to go into. I spent at least three years with these people in undergrad but it's still amazing how supportive they are and how much my boss is willing to set up opportunities for me in LAM. I just feel like I'm doing so many good things for my future right now. :biglove:

Also, I got to hold an alligator yesterday. Nbd.

Received a scholarship for my first year today from OSU that is INSANE. I really hope its not a typo!!! I am going to be raving ALL DAY AND NIGHT!!!! :soexcited: :soexcited:

Got to see an ultrasound done on a calf to determine if the calf had an umbilical hernia or not, it did not, but it did have a large abscess that I got to watch be lanced and drained.... so much fluid. And now I know what an abscess looks like on ultrasound. 🙂

the meniscus was intact on this particular dog although the surgeon did opt for a meniscal release. i've scrubbed in on 4 TPLOs this week so far. i'm not sure they do TTAs here but they do tightropes and the lateral suture techniques

Holy. ****ing. ****. You guys. I can't even. I'm crying. A lot. My grandparents are gifting me a SUBSTANTIAL amount of money each year for school or living expenses or whatever I need it for. My grandfather (who is notoriously miserly) said he's so proud of me. He's a retired pediatrician and he said he's so proud to have another doctor in the family. I might pee myself.

Had a great day at work today.
1. Two young girls who found a 4 week old kitten last night. Took NOTES while I was going over orphan kitten care, make a list of things to pick up, asked questions (by raising their hands), scheduled all the vaccine appointments, and payed for our kitten package in advance.
2. A wonderful man who got stuck with his neighbors two ducks after they decided his yard was much nicer. One had gotten attacked by a fox and he drove over an hour to have his duck seen, waited patiently while we took care of our scheduled appointments, happily signed a $2000 treatment plan, and will be spending the weekend building a custom house and pen for the duck to live in after we amputate his wing on Monday.

This is why I'm going into vet med.

I finished the first week of couch to 5k today and found out that my mom's American Eskimo is a great jogging buddy/excellent motivator.

Awesome! My husband and I have done the first week like two or three times. We started and it hurt so I had to stop until everything healed. Then I had to go on a trip. I think tomorrow we finally start week two.

Been an exciting weekend! I managed to move my entire apartment into a storage unit - while leaving out stuff for my Europe trip, chopped my hair crazy short, went to my sister's first wedding shower, and a bunch of other random stuff! I feel like I've had a productive weekend 🙂

I have been waiting for July to come since October... SOs deployment is coming to an end this month!!! Ahhh I cant wait for him to be safe on US soil!!!!
