Veterinary School Application Advising Ad

Gave bf his awesome birthday surprises and he loved them. Took him to the super cool indoor shooting range for the day and we had lots of fun shooting together. Then took him out after midnight to sit on the banks of a local lake and drink champagne while watching the Perseids meteor shower. He said it was the best birthday he's had in a very long time, so I did good. 😀

Only downside was that I spent way more money than I intended. Didn't consider the fact that I might need to buy ammunition for the two of us (which is ridiculously expensive right now) and that alone set me back $50 for 100 rounds. 😡 But in the end it was worth it because we both had lots of fun.
 
My parents got two offers on the old house, so there won't be any problem with getting my bed out of it this weekend to move to BR. Also, they're actually making money on a house for the first time!
 
Painted the wall behind my headboard purple yesterday and it makes me much happier in my room 😀 and I did it for FREE!

Spent the day at the waterpark with my sister! Lotsa fun!!! Rode ALL the slides 😀

Oooh, I like it! My bedroom at home is a similar shade, just a little bit darker. Except I never got around to doing the touch up painting around the edges of the walls and trim, so it looks a little sloppy if you look too close. :laugh:

Thanks! I was surprised how well scotch blue tape worked on the edges! Theres a little bit on the baseboard trim but you can't see any of it because its blocked by my nightstand, bed, and desk 🙂
 
Got my laptop back from warranty repair! 😀 So excited to have a real keyboard again.

They had to replace the motherboard.....:lame:

If you avoid 95 and just take 66 to 81 to get to tech, you should be okay. 95 is just a **** show. I hate it... a lot. Also, if you want to avoid paying ridiculous amounts of money to park at VA beach, go all the way down to the residential area (like 40th st or something). You can park for free and it's a two minute walk to the beach!

Random phone call to a random clinic turned out to be an excellent choice. I got to see a LOT of exciting stuff this week (TTA, horse that had been tusked by a pig, horse stuck in muddy creek that fire and rescue teams were attempting to lift out but we ended up having to euthanize, horse diagnosed with myasthenia gravis!!!, splint bone fracture, cryptorchid dog with a femur fracture). I was only there for 5 days total, but when I left yesterday, the owner of the clinic told me that if there was anything I needed, to just let him know 🙂

Today is my last day with these stupid antibiotics that have made me feel like crap! Only thing that would be better is if I was completely done. And I finally got my LA vet shadowing day set up. It's only going to be 8 hours but at least i can put LA vet experience on my applications. Yay!
 
I found and bought my wedding dress yesterday after days of shopping ... and got a great discount on it too! 😀

oh man, that is a lot of driving! as someone who just did 1300mi in 2.5 days to see NCSU and UGA, i wish all the best! but i <3 blacksburg and VT so its definitely worth it 😉


I finally got my camera back from olympus!! i have a Tough TG-1 that had a dead flash (?) back in june and after having it for nearly 2 months, they've finally given it back! how i've missed this camera so much 😍 - and it was free!!! yay for honoring the warranty!!

Haha yes, it's a bit of a trip! I've got a one way ticket to fly home though so only making the long trek once. And we are just a few minutes from DC actually!

Took my cat in for a dental today. Not only was it WAY less expensive then I was expecting, but when I picked him up the tech told me all about what a good boy he was for them. Apparently all the other dental/surgery patients were being super aggressive today, but Julius was their star because he just flopped on the treatment table and patiently let them get on with the prep. Then after his dental he took a nice quiet nap in his cage until it was time to go home.

You know you've achieved crazy cat lady status when hearing that your kitty was a good boy for the vet makes you all proud and happy inside. :laugh:
 
Out at the park today and my pup was 2 "blocks" away down by the lake(no one else there, so I didn't care). I hollered "Kahlua COME" and she RAN over to me with no hesitation!

I overestimated the amount of taxes to be taken out of my first paycheck and now I am around $100 "richer" than I thought I would be.

... but, between building my two savings accounts back up and paying off some of my credit card debt, I don't think that I'll be seeing that money in my pocket anytime soon.
 
Roomie is finally moving in on Sunday! Now I'll have someone to talk to at night besides my cat. 😀 hehe. I suppose this means I have to start closing my door when I change my clothes though...:laugh:

Guys! After two years working in the field and my whole life around vet med, tonight I finally learned to draw blood! I know it's silly to be so excited, but I hit the cephalic on the very first try and the lateral saphenous on the second! Hopefully I'll be a phlebotomy-pro before school. 😉

I loooove drawing blood.., cat Jugs are my all time fave. I find myself eyeballing human Jugulars when I'm hanging out with friends lol one of my guy friends has a humongous jugular and I just wanna poke it lol ( maybe this should've gone in the confession thread lol - oh well 😉 )

Keep up the good work MC!!!

I do the same thing. I compliment the bf on nice "sponginess" of his veins. It freaks him out a little! 😀
 
Yes! Catheters and drawing blood are THE best!!!!
 
My husband freaks out when I stare at his neck because he knows all I can think about is drawing his blood... I thought I was the only weirdo, haha.
 
All of my fall preceptors are scheduled.
And I have housing for all of them!
Found a friend of a friend's son who has a place I can stay at for FREE during the one externship I was having trouble finding housing for. Totally awesome.

Now I just need to figure out if I want to fly or drive. It's ~25 hrs. But I would so much rather have my car than a rental for six weeks, and I have a lot of crap I need to bring with.
 
Got frames for my big travel prints, and they'll be hanging in my the guest room tonight! Just in time for me to leave for BR, heh...😳

Haha your not alone!! Tonight I was ripping some athletic tape for a project I was working on and the instant I ripped the tape I felt like I was prepping tape for a IV catheter lol... I've been out of the ER clinic for a month now and I'm itching to draw blood and place a catheter :laugh:

It totes was! Guy was super dreamy with the most gorgeous smile. Equally as nerdy, super smart but not conceited, and his accent was an added bonus. And best of all, unlike my last two exes, has an emotional intelligence greater than that of a caveman. I've decided that I deserve sweetness and sensitivity in my life.
 
Roommate's bunny and my cat are getting along great (under supervision)! Granted, the rabbit is larger and my cat is missing half her teeth and is declawed..but still! I'm glad she isn't trying to eat her new housemate.

Rabbits are actually surprisingly decent fighters... you know, when they're not fleeing.

My rabbit has only been around one cat in her life, but she was thoroughly fascinated by him.

One of my rabbits used to try to mate with my cats. Poor cats were terrified of him. :laugh:
