I just got an internship at an emergency equine clinic near my mom's home in Colorado! I'm starting with a week, but I may be able to extend it based on how it works out!! So excited. Since I'm basically starting from scratch, I thought no one would give me the time of day when I called.. But now I have a great internship! Ahh!

PS. veggie pastas are delicious!!

Made pancakes out of a banana and an egg and they were delicious!

Recipe? Right now I'm picturing mashing up a banana with egg and I'm not sure how that would go...

That's exactly what you do. Only issue I had was flipping them. I don't know if I need to cook them on a lower heat for a little longer time, or if my banana wasn't ripe enough. Still tasted great though. I threw in blueberries too, which might have been too heavy for the batter. But I've seen people make them online and they come out in one piece, so I think I just need practice.

Intriguing.

This has also given me a hankering for tostones.

What's the banana to egg ratio?

One of my classmates just dropped by randomly with fresh baked beer bread and ginger cookies. Everything was still warm. The last three weeks have been rough so it was a lovely treat. I'm so thankful for my awesome friends!

Welp this has been a bit of a confusing journey.

But it looks like I'm officially a DVM/PhD student now.

I might get a funded reserved project in Australia this summer or at the very least should get paid for some cool lab work here.

AND my new tuition assistance for being a grad student just went through. It was almost 50% for this semester!!!! And my advisor said it can likely go up!!! I am so stoked 😀

After a rough day/week/month I decided to do something impulsive and donate my hair. I usually wait until the summer but I wanted to do something for me today. It's shorter than it's ever been and I absolutely love it!

When I first spoke to my family about the idea of trying an anti-anxiety medication, the only person who supported the idea was my mom. Everyone else thought it was unnecessary and that I could get my anxiety under control without meds. Now that I have been on medications, off of them, and then back on them, the rest of my family has realized that perhaps this medication was a good idea. Today my grandma told me what a difference she can hear in me and my dad was supportive of me going back on them before starting classroom work again. It just feels so nice to have people finally understand that I'm not weak

i truly believe in the chemical deficiency being a big contributing factor for a lot of people. behavioral management is super important too, but if theres a lack in the required NTs, no amount of behavior modification and therapy will be able to fix all aspects. glad you're feeling better! psychopharmacology is a very neat field!

Today is a special day at school with sponsors and stuff....we were supposed to wear business casual, but of course I completely forgot.

Somehow I felt like wearing a button-down shirt with a lacy camisole underneath today without remembering the requirements. I normally live in hoodies pretty exclusively, so this choice was pretty out of the blue. I just love it when I get lucky like this! Or if it is my subconscious, it needs to make great decisions like this more often! 😀

(The cowboy boots don't really fit the theme, but oh wells....)

We have so much ice on the ground here that my roomie went ice skating on our street lol. If your my FB friend, you can see the video on my wall! .... im not happy about the ice bc I need to go to the anatomy lab, but ice skating on the street is pretty darn awesome.

Had time to cook dinner tonight for the first time in a while. Pan seared sea scallops (bought fresh when I was on preceptor in the fall!) with avocado cream sauce and chipotle drizzle. I wish I had time for things like this more often. So good. Makes me happy.

That sounds delicious. I'm still trying to figure out what I want for dinner especially since I ate like crap the past day or two and feel I should be healthy.

sounds yummy!

My weekly food theme is Jamaican... so I made jerk tofu, rice and beans and fried plantains for a late lunch today. I'm still absolutely stuffed, yum.

Just finished filing my taxes and it says I'll be gettig a nice big chunk of change back! I hope I didn't screw up somewhere (multiple W-2 and T-1098 forms, eek), because I could really use that money!!!

That game was ridiculous. I'm all about the hawks winning it but I almost feel bad for the broncos.
Are you a Washingtonian?

No. I wish I did! But I've always rooted for Seattle. (My brothers adoptive mother grew up there, and I lived for 2 years with her and my brother)

Yeah, Broncos were having a really bad day. I was glad when they finally got a TD though. (I won money for being on the right square when 1st and 3rd qtr ended.)

I am currently sitting in a Possession and Acquisition License course. I think the thought of me firing a gun to be hilarious, but it shall happen. Pretty big deal for a Canadian city girl! :cat:

The rumors are true...alcohol does make histo make more sense!

Apparently "clips" are strictly American. I've been told it's a "magazine" and I will not find "clip" anywhere in the text. My watching of crime dramas is going to get me in trouble, I just know it.

In the U.S. we call it a mag, magazine, clip, etc but I once had a random guy in a store tell me that calling it a "clip" makes me sound like a criminal. Now I'm wondering if he was really just Canadian . . .

Got a guinea pig! He doesn't get along with other pigs but likes cats so he is perfect. I need a name for him; any suggestions? He came with the name Casper but I'm not sure if it suits him or not.

He's adorable! You could stick with the white theme and go with Albus or a variation like Albert or Alban.

Aw I'm glad he got a home. 🙂

We decided on Norbert 🙂 It's cute and unique plus a little bit nerdy, which suits him. I can't get over how cute he is! He and one of my cats are already best buds. He greeted her this morning with a couple of wheeks while he ran into his hut when he saw me haha

the visiting cat at our apartment over break used to push her way into the GP cage when my roommate was feeding in the morning and steal from their bowl. piggies apparently didnt care (my pig would have bitten her straight on the nose for thievery!)

As much as I dislike the commonness of my name, at least my mom and dad didn't go "You know what name would be great for our daughter - Tittica."

Imagine the nicknames. It's not the loveliest name for a woman to have, but every time I go over it on my work list, I just laugh. What's probably worse (or funnier) is that this person's surname is "Turner." All I can think is, do they call you Tit Turner?

Speaking of bad names, I feel horrible for all the women out there named Melena...

Today my fancy new vacuum arrived. My old vacuum, which I had inherited from my parents, was 38 years old (<- no typo, straight avocado-colored retro, my dad was using it in the 70's). It started making death growls Sunday night and I just said, "Screw it!" then went to my computer and bought a new one.

The ZukuReview question for today asked an exotics pharm question that I just studied for a test. 😀 It always perks up my day just a little bit when I get those correct.
