I was going to start watching The Crown when I was home sick on Friday but then Mr. DubZ wanted to do our skype date early so we watched Mad Men for most of the afternoon/evening. Must find time to watch it...probably after this month though. Because writing.

I haven't tried it yet! I keep wanting to.

Highly recommend it!

This is gonna sound weird but I'm so thankful when my dog just gets me so well. She'll sleep by me if I'm focused, start playing games if I need a break, just randomly walk up to me and expect me to run after her aalllllll the time (Because we do that) and just in general be a really great dog to have in vet school. She's a pug so she's wonderfully low maintenance but can totally stick out those super long walks too if I need them.

Just found out that I will be going to shadow an equine surgeon tomorrow!!! With the potential to make it a semi-often occurrence if he likes me. :soexcited:

(This also means a 2 hour drive over a mountain with the wrong tires on my truck at an ungodly hour in the morning during rush hour to get there but so worth it)

Today I made a pot roast with veggies, bread, and a salad and invited my friends over for dinner. They brought their kitties to play with my kitten (they all get along great) and we all hung out laughing for hours. It was such a nice break from studying and might have honestly been the best night so far of vet school. My heart is happy.

I seriously love this puppy. He's so good, aside from the teeth.

My dumb pup would have eaten all that food before I set it on the ground.

Really, at first I thought he was stubborn, then realized I actually was teaching him the same things over and over. He's like a chicken, wakes up so that every day is new.

"Ooooo food! Give give give"

"Sit"

"Why no food? Give me food! Dancing happy dog here!"

"Sit, Fezz"

"Food food food, run in circles, sniff somewhere else, come back, food now?"

"Fezzick, Sit"

"Oh wait? Did she say things? I think that meant something..... processing.... processing.... Ooooo she has food! Happy tail!"

"Oh, for the love of dog! I lift the food over your head, your butt goes down. This is called sit. Do it and you get food. (Reward) Let's try this again."

He immediately stands up and watches me get another piece.

"Fezz, sit"

"Ooo food! Happy tail!" (stares blankly...)

I miss my smart dog that figured out the tricks as fast as I taught them. This one wants to please, but cannot remember how from one day to the next. But he's good with the kids. We'll just have to get a smart friend he can copy cat (cheat on the tests and what not).

Tomorrow is my last day at the vet clinic! I'm so grateful that I'm able to quit without worrying about adult things - rent, power, water bills, etc - because I live with my folks and they don't charge me. 😍 Someday I will grow up and fly the nest. Probably. But until then . . . Thanks, mom and dad.

(One of our FT people quit/was fired today after boss lady was ranting about her to another staff member and she confronted her. So now they are incredibly short staffed, have holidays coming up, and no trained people who can do weekends. We've lost 10 people since May - that's our entire staff twice over. I'm so glad to be done with it all, but I'm sad my co-workers are left with this mess.)

3rd day shadowing the equine surgeon and his team. I think I'm in love. They are all so supportive and friendly of everyone (including me), and everyone is always having a blast while at work. Large animal surgery is also very interesting. 😍

Now to wait and see if I still love it this much after the rose coloured glasses wear off haha

Fantastic Beasts was absolute perfection, my heart was bursting by the end. Never have I been more proud to have played a character in a WW game 😍

(Though Newt would never have killed as many creatures as I did in that game haha)

I got the internships working with Clydesdales for next semester! Didnt even think I had a chance. And I just had the most beautiful last morning practice on the water for the semester (I'm on our rowing team). Tomorrow I get to go home to Florida and see all my fur babies for a whole 8 days of break!
cons: 8 exams still stand between me and the end of the semester....

If you don't mind me asking, where?! Are you driving or more doing groundwork? We can also take this to PM if you want haha
I've been in the draft/driving industry the last 2 years; they are the nicest creatures. Plus absolutely beautiful. 🙂

I might have to pick your brain a bit in a few months then. I am working on training my cow to ride and drive and it is slow going, and I know it is a pretty different mentality from training a horse, but just talking over what I'm doing with somebody helps. (First I need the crazy thing to stay bred. She lost her last pregnancy 🙁 )

Feel free to PM me; I definitely don't consider myself a training professional but I have worked with some younger ones and would be happy to pass along what I learned 🙂 I'd be curious to know what equipment you are using as well; with the anatomy differences between them and horses you would want to make sure it isn't something that will be rough on their body

There is a Facebook page devoted to it that has given me lots of hints for what to buy once we really get going, but for now, lunge line, halter and occasionally just having her wear a bareback pad or rope cinch around to get used to the feel.

I think my question was moreso if she found out she was having a girl, or if she gave birth to a girl.

If she was giving birth I'm 110% impressed with her SDN dedication all morning

Congrats LoTF! 🙂
More likely found out based on the timeline as far as the first time she mentioned it!

I'm pretty sure I missed all those posts, this post was the first thing I had seen regarding a new baby in the family. 🙂 Regardless, it is still exciting!
I think it was in the lounge and then very very briefly alluded to in the RHPS game? Can't remember.

"Doc, yes, I'm pushing. But lynch closes in an hour and you have no idea how quickly bandwagons can form!"

Yes, just had the doctor appt. I'm 17 weeks in. I haven't talked about it much because I wanted to visit a doc first.

(That and I kinda hate being pregnant and am job hunting... so good time for the family, but bad time for career. Just a lot of conflicting emotions)

Totally willing to admit that I wanted a boy, but I'll just have to hold out hope that one of them turns out to be a tomboy and will play in the mud with me.

Just tell the hubs he has disappointed you greatly 😉
