I love love love Cherokee infinity scrubs
These are the only scrubs I wear at this point, especially given how I tested them last year for their ability to stand up to mild contortion and they did great.

I will not be expanding on that comment.

It’s k you don’t need to expand on that bc you already did a year ago to me and bats 😂

Sure if surgery legends take 50 minutes to get to closing the body wall and have to have the DVM take over 😂

Nah, I’m impressed I got that far tbh
Surgery is HARD. Getting this experience early on is amazing. Nothing is like real tissue.

The first time I tried to do a dog spay on my own (second spay ever) I cried so 😂

I cried the last time I did a spay and phoned a friend to come save me. I hate them and love the fact we have baby doctors who want to do surgery!

50min is excellent time for your first time spay in my book. I think the last spay I did was 30-45 min or something and that was just last year lol.

Also, fwiw, productivity matters in practice but I don’t really get the people bragging about doing a spay in 5min through a microscopic incision. You’ll hear it from classmates, you’ll hear it in practice, it’s dumb. take the time you need/make the incision as big as you need. It’s still major surgery and we treat it like it’s no bigger deal than a car wash sometimes!

Yeah! Again, the doc did a LOT but I found the pedicles on my own, I cut the major things loose, and other than the broad ligament vessels the doc autoligated and the horn vessels she did, all my ligatures held!!!

I use Landau scrubs because they're provided by my AMC and laundered by the AMC.

When working in the AMC, the scrub color is based on our department affiliation.

Note: I wish I could wear animal print scrubs instead, something cool like a spotted cheetah ensemble!

I walked into work last night and the daytime doctor immediately apologized for a **** show transfer he'd just hospitalized. It was between me (likes surgery) and the other overnight doc (does not like surgery) and I've never had something dropped on me so quickly.

And then a couple hours later when I was digging gut and two slightly lacerated liver lobes out of the SQ of the dog really questioned my volunteerism. 😂 Half liter of air in the chest of a 5kg dog is fine, right?

This sounds like a case that should go in the cool cases thread

Took my kitties to the vet today and they were diagnosed as perfect 😌 it's so rewarding to hear they're at the perfect weight with how intent I am on making sure they stay lean

Tell me your secrets. My 15 lb round woman will not lose weight no matter what I do.

I am very strict with their portions (3/4 cup dry food per day mixed with water in a slow feeder + Greenies dental treats) and try to only give 1-2 treats per day. I think my big secret is exercise 😅 both of them loveee to play fetch with spring toys, so I can spend a good 30 minutes every day getting them to sprint up and down the apartment lol

Ugh. I’m also super strict with their food because they have allergies. 7/8 cup per day dry food (high fiber low cal diet for non-weight loss reasons) and no treats. My boy is 14 lbs but he’s a BIG cat and is a healthy weight. I guess my girl may just be round forever lol

what? I feed my calico 1/3 cup a day no treats and she’s still pleasantly plump
Just like people, animals definitely have different activity levels and caloric requirements. And different foods have different calories. I’m sure if Rae is feeding a high fiber low calorie diet and you’re not, your food probably has significantly more calories per cup.

My 13 pound dog eats 225 calories per day and my 30 pound dog eats 900 calories of the same food. Bigger dog is twice as large as the small dog but needs way more food to maintain his weight…if you were to calculate out calories per pound it’s like 17cals/pound body weight for the little guy (and he’s a little fat) and 30cals/pound body weight for my bigger dog (and he’s a little thin).

Yeah…. RC HP satiety has 238 kcals/cup so mine are getting 208 kcals per day, which is what the nutrition specialist calculated for us. So I think my kitties are good.

Also just wanted to rave about my husband - he took my old man cat in to our vet today ON HIS OWN and took so many notes so he would be fully prepared. I was a call/text away anyways just in case and I email with our vet all the time, but he did not want to be one of 'those husbands' that I used to complain about lol

Have you considered Hill's Metabolic? It's pricey (the student program helps a lot though), but it was the best diet for my blimp of a cat

They’re on HP because of allergies and satiety because if my boy doesn’t have enough fiber he poops blood. So she just has to figure it out lol

awh boo, it's stunning. my friend who lives a little west of the city could only see the pink/purple!

I'm toward the east edge of Aurora. 9 News said that tomorrow night might be viable too. Maybe the fam and I will take a drive a bit farther east tomorrow night 🤔

It used to be way more common. The average first day of snow fall used to be October 11 or 15 or something. Something like half of my Halloweens were snowy when I was a kid. This year is very weird to me.

And *then* things pick up after Jan with March being the snowiest month of the year. That was true and is still true.

We should've absolutely have had snow by now and it should be hitting around 55 or less. Not this 70 bull that we've been getting.

And I hate the snow and cold. But this is very weird to me

i’m an anxious snowy driver and i’m terrifieddd to drive in the snow 😭 slid on snow once and ever since then, i barricade myself in my home with the slightest snow fall.

east coast got some snow today! my partner back in PA was sending me photos of him snipping grape vines in the snow and was like “you live in colorado yet it’s 72 for you and i’m here freezing my butt off in PA in 25 degree cold!” yes joey..i understand the irony 🤣🤣

Totes valid to be honest. One sub-reason I'm just annoyed at losing my hospital is that I could drive side streets to get there rather than highway. I can do that with my new home hospital, just not as directly. And the OG hospital is 30 miles away, so there's no chance of not taking highway.

I would have an experienced friend take you out to learn. Honestly. Worst case scenario, slow and steady wins the race. People who want to be zippy can go around you; not a you problem.

But for the love of dog, don't just flip on your hazards just cause you're driving in snow. That drives me nuts.

me flipping my hazards on and driving 20 under the speed limit in the right lane because i’m scared 😔

my friends did tell me the best thing to do is just practice and that we could go in an empty parking lot and practice slow turns and driving and braking in the snow. my parents insist i dont need snow tires up here but i have heard otherwise 😭

I was taught to only have hazards on if my car is on the verge of breaking down or something like that; not to be used for driving in snow. But my dad and Grandma may also be hard-asses 😅

I've never owned snow tires. Just standard all season tires.

Up until “…of the dog” it sounded like a night in the human ED.

I have an interview with a low cost vaccination clinic today! This is huge for me because I have been struggling to get vet hours since I cant justify leaving my FT job. Even if it’s just once a month it will help SO much!
