Has the raw score - standard score conversion changed with the new format?

For example, according to the 1998 conversion table, 46-47 raw score in anatomic sciences section would equate to a passing standard score of 75, while a 73 raw score would mean getting a 90 on that section.

Has this changed? and to what extent?

thanks

Yes. One needs to get about an 80 raw score on ave to get a composit score of 90. I got 318 correct, or 79.5 percent average and got an 89 total. I know that people that got 320 correct andgot a 90. The standardization is different this year for whatever reason. I got a 76 in micro, 78 in anat, 79 in biochem, and 85 in DA. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, it looks like an 80 average is needed for 90 these days, up from 75 average on the old format (using the 98 coversion table).

For the purpose of understing how scores are scaled, if you look at the other end, 49 average was passing for the old format... has this also changed? are more correct answers needed to pass the test with the new format?

thanks

hi..
320 right answers amts to 90 score..so, that means we can hav 20 questions wrong and not yet go very low on the scoring scale????????????bcoz 340 is just 91 score...thats a huge margin....
or does it matter how other students performed on that day....like the usmle exam?????

Is there anyone else that contribute info to this topic?
Also does the performance of others taking the test around the same day affect the conversion scale as well?

I DONT THINK ITS TRUE TO GET 9O YOU HAVE TO SCORE AVG. 80 ON EACH SECTION. my scores:
b/p:84
dent:80
micr/p:84
anat:83

compscore 89.

good luck to everyone studying for this exam. best way to study this exam is gather as much as questions as possible from students..you guys should form a test bank for you and future students who will take this exam. the exam is completely unfair and its bunch of PH.D guys are in charge.

hi..when did u take the test??people wit 320 r geting 90....
so tht means tht score conversion is different..based on other students performances....
but ur score is quite competitive...
r u an international student or a US grad ?

when did you take the exam? your raw scores seem really high to be getting just an 89 comp score! 😱

I am a us grad. I completed the exam in JULY. I did called ADA reqarding my score, the answers I received was that we dont have a curve and your scores represents what you have got. Anyways, I was really pissed off to hear such answer but what can I do. NOTHING... GOOD LUCK EVERYONE... TEAM WORK WILL GET YOUR SCORE NOT HOW MUCH YOU KNOW.

hi guys....
i think i remember reading a few months ago on sdn that its not just the 'number' of questions you answer correctly, its also that 'which' questions you answer correctly....that means that more credit is given if you managed to answer the difficult questions. i think that might be the case since i know quite a few people with more or less the same raw score and different composite scores in the new pattern!
if any of you has more info regarding this matter, please post....it will feed the curiosity of a lot of people i guess

hi.r u sure thats the case?the gre exam is taken like that...ive heard...
I think questions are weighted different, i.e. if two people can miss the same number of questions, they get different scores. (They are weighted both by section, and by within the section; obviously, missing more dental questions will pull you down more than missing more anatomy questions. Also, if you miss the easier anatomy questions, that will pull you down more than missing the harder anatomy questions).

So, you can still get an 80 average, but not get a 90.

It's frustrating that the ADA isn't very clear about their scoring policy! Questions being weighted differently: this is news to me.

I also am having a hard time understanding why they're being so cryptic about their grading policies. What would be the possible consequences of making their grading criteria known?
