I am having trouble with the RC section and I have been scoring 290s on the Kaplan practice tests. Is anyone having the same trouble? Does anyone know if Kaplan RC is harder than the actual OAT? ANd if anyone has advice I'd appreciate it.

Hey! I havent done the real OAT yet..Im writing next week..but I got 280 and then 290 on my first two reading comp practice tests (a few days ago). Then today I got 350 on my Achiever reading comp test. I also did better overall on the achiever test. I think its easier than Kaplan. I really think Kaplan is tough, everyone on here says its much harder. But its good because you will be prepared for the real thing!

i've also been studying for the OAT using Kaplan and i've scored 260 and 270 on my last practice tests. i actually took the OAT today and made a 330 in RC. on the opted i scored a 380 on the rc but i think that since there is only one passage, it's not very accurate. don't worry too much though because i scored much lower on all the kaplan practice tests. they make the questions more difficult so that you're able to tackle any problem.

also, it really depends on your technique for tackling the rc. this method may or may not work for you, but i skim the passage, number and jot down what each paragraph discusses so that when i answer the questions, i know which paragraph to look at. it got me a decent grade on the oat. hopefully, this helps! good luck!

Nice job! Thanks for the input. It's just discouraging not hitting 300 on the Kaplan RC sectiion, but I have been using that same method and just practicing with it. Were the passages as dense as kaplan? Did you find you had more time to spare on the actual OAT?

How did you do overall on the actual OAT? My first test I scored 290/280 and then my second kaplan test i got 300/300..and then on achiever 310/300...my test is next wednesday and im considering pushing it back because of these scores! at least its progressively increasing which i guess is a good sign...
