RCSI BAHRAIN 2014 ENTRY

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
hey, I applied and got an interview. have you seen the campus/visited Bahrain? what made you choose the school and how was your interview (if you had one)?

I haven't been but I know people who are there who say it's a very good school! What made me choose the school is the rep with RCSI and matching later on. My interview was great, it was a webcam interview with no actual person asking questions but the computer generated questions and you had to reply within 2 minutes as it recorded you. Nothing to hard! Msg me for details 🙂

thanks a lot! i have a skype interview too, and the AB people told me over the phone that it would be sort of informal and casual. I'll message you soon 🙂

So sorry just saw this. Hope it went well!!

Can anyone give me the detail syllabus of he JCI AND JC2 First year madical school I am admittedd for 2014/2015 RCSI Bahrain

Hi guys, I was accepted to RCSI Bahrain for the 6 year program yesterday. They need $ 10,000 by the end of June to confirm my acceptance and I need 28 points in IB. But I don't get my IB results till July. If I pay 10,000 and I don't get 28 points, then I don't get my money back. Should I accept or reject?

That depends on how close you are to 28 IB? If you are pretty confident you'll score above it then go for it.

Hello everyone,

I have been accepted for September 2014 entry, and I plan to visit the campus in June for a tour, look at apartments, see a counsellor, etc. A main concern I have is the ongoing debate of withdrawing accreditation of RCSI Bahrain by the Irish Medical Council and National University of Ireland, due to of the unethical human rights violations. I am worried to begin the program, and in a few years the school is no longer accredited.

Would anyone have reliable information about this??

Thanks 🙂

What they are trying to ensure is that the program's hospitals meets Irish criteria and that the government doesn't interfere with hospital care. I really doubt there is going to be a loss of accreditation because you have a lot of powerful interests who don't want this to happen. First off the Bahraini government doesn't want this to happen because they will lose face but also because RCSI Bahrain is obviously providing a benefit to the economy. RCSI doesn't want to lose this also because of the reputation issue and because they have invested a lot of money into this. Both of the cards really are in the hospital and Bahraini government's hands since if they agree to Irish rules then they will be fine and so far it looks like they are willing to do this.

Its obviously a risk and if you have an offer anywhere else I would take it, just because you shouldn't have to worry about such things when you are studying medicine and have so much on your mind already. But if you don't have any other offer and you like the place I would go, I think the chance of it losing accreditation is low, and if it did, I believe RCSI will figure out a way to not let the students suffer because of this, maybe you would be transferred to RCSI in Ireland I have no clue.

Ok, thanks what you said makes sense. I figured losing accreditation is a real worst case situation, that is probably unlikely to occur. I had seen online the articles from Ceartas about accreditation issues and I was worried. I couldn't find any follow up released since Ceartas raised the issue in 2013. So far I do not have any other offers, and this is really the only thing I am concerned about.
Are you currently at RCSI Bahrain?

I received my interview invite beginning-mid april, and the interview was held on May 4. Our deadline to accept or no is June 20th, so I'm assuming after this deadline is when they would send out the next round...

Hi everyone, I was just accepted into the 5 year program and was wondering if there are any better forums or ways for finding roommates? I'm fairly new to this. Once I pay the deposits and confirm my spot I will be looking for a roommate so if anyone has any suggestions let me know! Thanks!

Hey!! I'm looking for room mates too, however, i've noticed there isn't actually a forum to better find a roomie. I am a female & looking for a roomie too - anyone interested just msg me 🙂

Hey I just got accepted into RCSI Bahrain for the 5 year program. I was wondering if anyone knows how much the living expenses are going to be. I have within the next 28 days to put my deposit in to confirm my seat but I need to figure out all my finances first. Also if anyone would be looking for a roommate let me know!

Has anyone applied to RCSI Bahrain?

I'll be attending for Sept 2014 as a 6 year student.

Hey just wanted to know how many people are starting in september 2014. Only a few days left till the term starts. Wondering if there will be any interaction between foundation year students and 5 year students.

I would truly appreciate it if anyone could tell me about financial aid (loans, scholarships, grants)? How do you plan on paying the tuition and living expenses? Did you have savings up to $200,000?? I searched and do NOT think that RCSI- Bahrain is eligible for FAFSA loans, correct me if I am wrong!! Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I am from Canada, therefore all we have is our student loans which DO give $10,000 loan bc it is recognised, I am assuming FAFSA does too. Please email them to get more information.
Also, banks are willing to give you loans if you have savings, or if you have a house you can use as collateral.
This is a process you have to start at least 4 months into going. Otherwise, your family etc will have to pay for it.

Living expenses range from $500-1000 dollars a month and there are GREAT accommodation right across the school, many buildings to choose from, and also a hospital right next to the housing too.

If you need more information please don't hesitate to email me, as I am currently a student at RCSI-MUB @ [email protected]
