Hey guys,

I just got accepted into RCSI for the 2009 entry program.
However, the tuition fee is WAY TOOOOOOOOO HIGH!!!!

I was adviced by my counselor to take one year off and apply to Hong Kong University (HKU) medical program since it's A LOT cheaper!!

I was just wondering what are the pros and cons of going to HKU over RCSI. I just want a general opinion of what do you guys think of RCSI comparing to HKU!!!??

Thank you very much

Sincerely,

I think your position might be unique. I'm not sure that the requent responders on here would be familiar with HKU (though I've been wrong before). Maybe if you posted a bit about the advantages and disadvantages of HKU I could come up with some points?

Hey there, are you planning to return to Hong Kong to practice after medical school? I have a classmate from HK at Surgeons and as I understand it the major con is this: docs trained outside HK have to pass a very difficult exam that HK grads do not have to take in order to practice in HK. I was told the pass rate is quite low for this exam. Now, my friend had decided he would not practice in HK so he is not affected by this, but if it is a major consideration for you I would think about what the best path for you with the least resistance is to practice where you would like.

Good luck!

Can you give us a bit more info regarding where you are from, where you intend to practice and what your aims/goals are?
