Hey all,
I applied and wait-listed at a school last cycle.
Here's my stats:
cGPA: 3.91, sGPA:3.83 (with two semesters of W's due to financial and family issues)
MCAT: 33 (PS 13/VR 8/BS 12)
360 hrs volunteering at a hospital
60 hrs shadowing a family physician
400 hrs of being a support teach for children with learning differences
400 hrs of ER scribe (currently ongoing and average 35 hours a week)
1200 hrs of law firm assistant (previous job while in school due to financial issue)
72 hrs of habitat for humanity
30 hrs of patient recruiter for a public health research study
private tutor, and other academic awards and honors
I have no research experience
I just moved from Georgia to Texas last April
I am planning on applying to all TX schools even though I am not considered a resident yet.
Can someone help me come up with a list of school that I should apply to?
I believe I applied too top heavy last cycle (a big mistake, since I have no research experience???)
Also, will I be considered a Georgia resident or Texas resident?

Ideally I would like to stay in Texas or preferably in the south...

Thanks!

What are you doing now during your gap year? How close apart were those two semesters where you withdrew? - Admissions Advice Online

Sound's like you're a TX resident if you've been there for a year and have been working:
Texas Education Code Sec. 54.052 (e). An individual who is 18 years of age or over who has come from outside Texas and who is gainfully employed in Texas for a 12-month period immediately preceding registration in an educational institution shall be classified as a resident student as long as he continues to maintain a legal residence in Texas

Since I'm not sure about losing GA residency, your best bet would be to call MCG and Mercer to check their residency admission requirements. Other than those two, the schools that come to mind are:

Any UT schools you please

WF, Baylor, and Miller, since they fit your geographical preference

Any smattering of these:
EVMS
U Vermont
Quinnipiac
MCW
GWU
Rosalind Franklin
NYMC
SLU
Creighton
Drexel
Rush
Penn State
Brown
AMC
Rochester
Geisel
Loyola
Jefferson
Temple
Tufts

And finally, as many reaches as you can afford.

Hope that helps :3
