If I get rejected to the school that I really want to be in this year, am I still allow to re-apply to the same school next year?

Has anyone experienced this?

Yes, and yes; I am currently attending a PhD program that rejected my application when I originally applied two years ago.
Tip: if you reapply, your application ought to have improved from the first time around; in other words, figure out where the weak spots in your application are, and fix them.

Indeed...it feels kind of weird though: It's October now and for the first time in 4 years I'm not in grad school application mode 🙂
