Hi everyone,

I just took about 8 months off of school to have a baby, and am returning in two months to do my fourth year of medical school. My question is, are there any particular books you recommend (I'll be mostly doing medicine rotations), to get me back on track... I feel kind of fuzzy headed like I don't remember much of anything and am worried that I'll look like an idiot when I'm doing sub-i's, especially because places will expect me to do "fourth year" level work.

Thanks!

It seems to me that "fourth year" level work primarily consists of checking your e-mail and leaving early.

Haha, it sure does. Except for when you're on your critical care month. That month sucks.

Flip through first aid for medicine, but i bet you'll be fine. Congrats on the kid.

Hi there,
It's like riding a bicycle. Once you climb on, you will know what to do. Start with an easy elective and then jump back in or do something like geriatrics where you get plenty of practice with your diagnostic skills.

MS-IV work is the same as MS-III except less intense. Everyone knows that by fourth year, you know what you are doing so they generally leave you alone.

Fourth year is freaking awesome. 😀 👍 😀

thanks for the responses... Yes, I've planned one mellower rotation before I do my sub-I so hopefully that will help. I hope its like riding a bike 🙂
