Hi Guys,

I'm retaking the MCAT this Aug and I'm reusing my AAMC 3-8 practice exams I bought for the April exam. I just took AAMC5 this weekend and I scored a 29... I don't know if I should believe the score since I've taken the exam before (beginning of March)... but then again I didn't even remember some of the passages or even the answers.

I guess my question is should I even consider re-taking the AAMC exams since they may be slightly inflated due to me taking the exams before? I did buy the EK test online and I plan on using them too... but I believe the AAMC is indicative of my score or at least it was when I got my own score back from April.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thank YOU!

Hard to say. Did you look at the answer explanations, or did you review the answers at all? Also, how good is your memory with retaking? I don't know about you, but I think if I reviewed the answers, then a retake wouldn't be accurate for me.

The odd thing is I do go over the exams after I have taken them but then again I don't remember the questions that are asked. I took this exam 3 months ago as well so I have no clue. The first time I took the exam I scored a 26... but now with retake a 29??

Thanks for replying.

Anyone else??? suggestions??

It's hard to say. A three point increase is pretty good, but that constitutes like one point in each section. If you had remembered just five answers out of the 60 or 77 questions in each section, that may have been your "improvement" right there. Then again, if you don't remember anything, it may be a real increase. In that case, good job! But I think you'd know better than we would.

Hi NapeSpikes,

That is true... I understand your POV. I probably will continue this thread since I know some other people here in SDN are retaking in Aug and most likely they are wondering if reusing old material will help them.

I'm hopeful that it does indicate a score increase (or that I know concepts much more clearly). I'll see this weekend when I take EK 1g, a test I've never taken before.

Thanks again!

Keep us updated, this maybe a good strategy. 👍

Hey, no i think it's good to retake... i mean you didn't get 45 did ya?! that means you still need to work on the concepts of those that you missed. Now to see if you've really improved, i think you have because you've obviously learned something from taking the test because you knew the answers! (that's assuming you didn't guess the answers, rather you actually knew why those are the answers)

so... good job! but set your goal high and you'll increase a lot faster. 👍
