Hello guys,

I am a recent graduate and I am going back to my school to take more courses/upgrade my GPA.

I have fairly low marks for my 1st year science courses and I got C and C+s on many of my pre-requisites.
So my question is, is it better to re-take the pre reqs or take new upper level science courses with the intention of improving my overall GPA? and how important are the pre reqs grades?

Thanks a lot for any input!

If I were you I'd concentrate on taking new upper level science courses. Both will have a very similar affect on your GPA (depending on the number of credit hours the course is worth). Taking an upper level science course and killing it shows adcoms that you can handle hard science classes and still do well. The only thing repeating a pre-req will show, in my opinion, is that it took you two tries to get that A. However if you received a C- or lower then you'll most definitely have to re-take. The pre-req grades are important but if you got a C then just move past it and do very well in a harder class.

I asked this same question almost two years ago as I also have a few C's in pre-reqs.
