Hi guys,

I just received my MCAT scores yesterday from my 6/16 exam, and I was extremely disappointed to find out my verbal score, which turned out to be a good 5-6 points below what I averaged during my practice FLs (and the worst of the four exams I have taken so far). While my scores for PS, BS, and WS are acceptable, there is no way I can apply with my current verbal score. I will be re-taking the MCAT in September, but I know that will put me behind in the applicant pool, even IF I have all other materials prepared and ready to go. My science and cumulative GPAs are okay but nothing spectacular (3.7-3.8), and as are my extracurriculars. As a Canadian student, I will be applying to schools across the country, even though I may not find out my score before some of the deadlines; I am taking this risk because Canadian schools do not operate on rolling admissions, and I will not be at an additional disadvantage--just as long as my scores turn out to be around or over 30. The reason why I took the exam so early in the summer was solely for American schools, but with my terrible verbal score, I am not sure what to do.

Sorry for the long post...I guess my question is, given my just-average GPA and extracurricular activities, and my late MCAT (also taken MULTIPLE times), is it really worthwhile for me to apply in the United States? Last year, I got materials in my September-October (which is late) with an MCAT of 28R, and I received no interviews from the 10 schools I applied to. 🙁

Any insight would be great!
