good evening ladies and gents,
first of all, i would like to apologize if you may find this question in any way idiotic. i assume that the answer is yes or obvious reasons, however i would deeply appreciate any insight or suggestions? i will be reapplying to med schoos this upcoming 2011 cycle, and thus i still have the PS which i submitted last year. i feel like my PS, along with my GPA and EC's, were the strong points of my application. i submitted my primary prior to taking my mcat. unfortunately, when i took the MCAT i did not void although i seriously at the time knew i should've. my head wasn't in the right place at the time and i admit that i wasn't mentally disciplined enough to take it at that time. still, due to my boneheadedness and simple eagerness to just get it over with, i did not void my scores.

so, since i originally submitted my primary to only 3 schools, will it hurt me to re-use my PS? i assume the answer is yes if i re-apply to those same schools (all of which i recieved a secondary and did not bother completing. i do intend still to send my app to those 3 schools this upcoming cycle). additionally, will the new schools i apply to have access to my 2010 application (thus seeing my old PS)?

if any of you have ran into any situation similar to mine, i would deeply appreciate any guidance or advice you can give me. i know the easiest answer would be to write an entirely new one, but i feel like my PS from last year was so stellar - it will be such a pain trying to top it. i know that i will end up sucking it up and writing a new one, but i would like to hear if anyone had their own two cents to add? thank you everyone and have a great start to the week!

I'll bite...

I only applied to 2 schools last year, and I too felt that I had a pretty good PS. I was waitlisted at both schools and didn't get in so I had to reapply. I pretty much used the same PS, but I did go through and tweak it.

With that said, I am on 3 waitlists right now with no acceptances...

If you think it is a really good PS and a strong point of your app, then I would keep it, but maybe update it a little bit.

I interviewed at my top choice last year but got waitlisted. I re-applied and used basically the same PS, maybe tweaked a little bit, interviewed and accepted this year. I think if it is a good PS, you shouldn't need to change it very much.

brianmartin and auburn05, thank you so very much for your help! it's much appreciated. good luck with your current ongoings!
