Read before listening or listen before reading?

If it is a topic you don't know very well it might be hard to understand all of what they are talking about.

I'm the type of person that learns better by reading than listening so I don't really like audio osmosis. Usually I just get bored with it. I tried listening to it while following along in the book, but I would rather just read.

I personally listened to them constantly! Say if that week I was going to cover Bio lec. 1-3 I would load Bio lec 1-3 of Audio Osmosis in my ipod and then just listen to it on the way to class, when I was in the car, when I was running etc.... I never actually say down and intently listened.

AO is very beneficial!

I am also using Audio Osmosis...I am actually doing both. I am listening before reading and listening constantly after reading/studying, etc. Since the CD only gives you a brief overview and cannot stand alone, it helps me to hear the concepts and terms before delving into the actual reading and studying of the chapters.

But whatever way you do it, I think that listening constantly to Audio Osmosis when you are having some down time...i.e. driving, walking, exercise is key....

I read the corresponding section in the EK study manuals, then listened to the AO cd's... they are great supplemental materials IMO!

Agreed with the above. I listen before and after...whenever I can. If you are unfamiliar with the material it may seem like a bit much listening to it beforehand but just take it for what it is and move on to reading and then listening again will cement the info...it works well IMO

For me listening before doesn't do much. I mean, I hear things sounding familiar and typically think I'm getting it, but when I listen to material after I read it's a significantly different experience. It feels like I'm really able to imagine what's going on and it's further reinforcing what I learned through studying by reading.
