I know most people ask questions about bio and chem and what not, but lately i've been wondering what the best way to tackle the reading comp section is. I'm used to just skimming the passage and then searching for the answers to the questions, and this was working somewhat well for me (i was getting 19s and 20s right off the bat).

But i've been taking the Kaplan class and they're trying to beat this whole "outline the topic and keywords of each paragraph" stuff and its just not working for me.

Any suggestions as to the best way to approach this section?

my suggestion is to not skim unless you're a slow reader. If you're medium to more speedy, you should have plenty of time to read the whole thing, every word, and still refer back to the passage to help answer the questions. If you're a slower reader, you really don't have much of a choice but to use some method of assistance like what kaplan suggests. There are some other threads in this forum that mention some other methods.

Try taking it 4 questions at a time read the first 4 questions then start reading and add another question every time you answer one by the time you get near the end you'll know where most of the answers are in the passage
