I just took one of the official PCAT practice exams and it showed that I'm in the 76%-96% range. I scored well in chem, bio, verbal, and math. But I scored 36%-56% for the reading comprehension, what's the best way to improve that score.

I'm really grateful for any suggestions..

Defining the terms used in questions and seeing what the PCAT writers are really getting at (author's voice, the 'theme', etc) was the major point for me. Go through the practice exams again and see what you missed because of any misconceptions you have about words like that, since the reading comprehension section seems to be quite formulaic and the same types of questions are asked each time.

Also make sure you're pacing yourself well. I like to actually force myself to read through each section before looking at the questions so that I can quickly get the easy ones down without having to look a a question, skim around, answer the question, and move on. Rather this leaves me enough time to really 'think the hard ones over a bit' without having to worry about time too much.

Also if you're taking the paper version make quick notes to yourself if you need to. I find myself kind of zooming on key sentences after a while like "oh a question could be asked about that opinion by this third party" and make a star next to it.

So really for me pacing and figuring out what the heck the questions are actually asking was the most useful for me. Good luck.

I'm so glad that I'm taking the paper version, I would imagine it saves so much time and makes it easier to skip around, specially for the math.

But thank you very much. I got a few wrong because I didn't read correctly what they were asking for, so I need to focus on understanding what they want.

i am glad i am taking the paper version as well, i cannot stand to read on a screen and then have to scroll up or down while looking for answers, and as stated above you cannot make notes.
