Hey guys,

Just curious...How do you all approach the reading comprehension section on the DAT? I understand that the entire passage is on the screen with each individual question. Do you read/skim the passage first and then answer each individual question or do you look at the question given to you and hunt down the answer in the passage? Thanks for your help!

I read the passage entirely before tackling the questions. While often there are unnecessary details in the passages, reading the passage as a whole helps for those generalized interference/tone questions. I feel that it's hard to answer those questions by the "Search & Destroy" method. I spent on average 5-10 minutes reading a passage, but answered the questions in a fraction of the time. The RC section is subjective though. It's really what works best for you!

I switched it up depending on the clock. Passage 1: read it all, then answered questions while referring to the passage a few times. Passage 2: skim, answered questions while referring more to the passage. Passage 3: pure search and destroy. That method feels like chaos, especially with the clock winding down.

cool thanks for the suggestions everyone! i agree that the best strategy is to skim the passage first and then answer the questions.
