A battery has a measured potential difference of 6.0v if no circuit is connected to it. When it is connected to a 10ohm resistor, the current is 0.57 amps. What is the internal resistance?
I did it a different way than NOVA and got the same answer. I want to make sure it's not a coincidence.
V=I(R+Rinternal)
6=0.57(10+Rinternal)
0.3=0.57Rinternal
Rinternal=0.53
I rounded it when I was doing it, but when I saw NOVA's work was different I checked with the exact values.
Here is how NOVA did it.
Vext=IRext
Vext=(0.57)(10)
Vext=5.7V
Rint=Vint/I
=0.3V/0.57A
Rint0.53ohms
