Real MCAT Most Comparable to TPR Wkbk, TBR, EK Passages in Sciences

For those who have recently taken the MCAT, I have heard how radically different the exam is by some, but wanted to know what questions from what prep book's company best reflects the types of questions asked in the sciences.

For instance, based on what everyone seems to say recently, TBR bio seems to be more realistic than EK 1001 Passages in Bio based on the experiments and questions to that effect.

I've heard TBR bio is harder than the real thing because TBR tends to ask about minute details in addition to broad concepts.

This is how I find the difficulty to be (and I feel as though most will agree).

From most to least difficult:

BR>TPR=AAMC>EK.

Are you talking about passages from EK's 30 minute exams? I did those and they were pretty tough....

EK 1001 is pretty hard, especially their hard questions. From my experience, MCAT dosen't focus on the detailed algebraic manipulations, calculations that EK focuses so frequently on the 1001s.

I guess most don't agree haha. No I think EK 1001 "hard" questions are unreasonable so I wouldn't count those (MCAT doesn't require insane calculations). Furthermore, EK 1001 are discretes and the MCAT is all about passages and I feel as though discretes are much easier than hard passage questions. In terms of questions that are similar to the MCAT (passage style), I feel as though my difficulty scale was accurate because the TPR workbooks are hard, BR is very hard (most questions), and EK isn't that bad. Also, I didn't take into consideration the 30 min exams, only the EK 1001.

Hey guys i was looking for advice for my bio books, i have TBR and EK bio, i read all of EK bio already, and am working on the passages from TBR, i was wondering if it was worth reading through TBR...

i know the second book is more based on genetics..and the MCAT bio sections are leaning more towards genetics...or is it not worth reading...i started reading the metabolic concepts ad it goes into INSANE detail...even more than my bioenergetic and metabolism class.

I also have Ek 1001--how should i approach the bio for this first 30 questions in each chapter?

(this is my retake of 3/27 mcat i used kaplan bio...i gotta a 6 on the real test.i was shocked..but my average was 10-11 on AAMC's)
