Okay everyone I know there has been a lot of these questions, but in the past I haven't seen too many answers toward licensing. To make a long story short, a friend and I were pulled over and I was charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor because the driver was only 20. Is there any chance of dentistry still? I know some people say the schools themselves are forgiving, but I was actually curious if anyone has been licensed with the similar situation. I'd appreciate any information, I have no idea what to do know.

Since so many souls have decided to click on this topic but not given the OP any direction...I will step up to the plate and point to the fences like Babe Ruth with this one: call a lawyer.

Being charged with a crime is obviously different from being found guilty of a crime. If you did not sign/make any statements and have not had your day in court, you still have options to combat the allegations. How successfully, though, depends on the guile of your Juris Doctor.

Amen to goldtiger's answer. Call a lawyer and work out a deal.

Well unfortunately I seem to be out of luck because I have court this morning (with many people), because it was a big weekend of parties at my school so they are all sending us to court at the same time. The only problem is that obviously I did stupidly buy for a friend who was 21 who was splitting alcohol with the driver of the vehicle so we both answered the cop truthfully to not get anymore screwed. I am hoping we can do a program that they mentioned, which was paying the fine then doing community service today and go to an alcohol cass tonight and then it will not be put on our record. I do appreciate the responses though, I just thought there might have been a couple in the same situation. Definitely don't feel like ever even going near alcohol again....

Call a lawyer and ask, but if it isn't "put on your record" wouldn't that be like a speeding ticket. Kind of like a slap on the wrist?

Do a search, it seems like I'm always seeing people coming on here with alcohol related incidents.

Although you may not be found guilty of a crime, the record of your arrest may not go away. Get a lawyer. There are plenty of applications I have seen over the years which ask if you have ever been arrested. Find out how this may affect you.

Thanks again for the advice. Luckily I was only given a fine and had to do community service, but the charge was dismissed. Still doesn't look good at all, but at least I won't have to say I was convicted of the crime on apps etc

You were not charged with a crime, so unless explicitly asked about fines/arrests, don't mention anything. As for integrity, as I like to say, we've ALL done stuff we shouldn't have, just not all of us got caught. 😎

Good luck, and be careful next time.
