  1. Dental Student
Long time not posting on this forum but here I go. I applied in 2017 for the 2018 cycle for dental schools. 15 schools, 14 rejections, 1 pre-dec interview --> rejection so 15 rejections. GPA 3.2 DAT 20. Adcoms told me to raise my gpa, my dat was fine. I applied for a masters in global medicine (USC) and got in. I start in August. Now that I'm reapplying, I was wondering how I should format my personal statement. Do I mention that I didn't get in the first round and write about what changes I've had in the past year ie masters, shadowing/volunteering OR do I write a new personal statement?

If I'm not mistaken there's actually a dedicated section for reapplicants on the app to explain any changes they've made. Even with that I'd write a new PS and briefly allude to the changes you've made but leave the details for the other essay. Maybe also focus on how the changes you've made between app cycles has given you a new perspective on why you want to be a dentist, one that maybe you haven't thought of before (a bit exaggerated, but an idea).

The only thing that I would add is that, of the admissions people I have talked to or heard speak, they want you to avoid being negative in the personal statement. So if you are going to talk about not getting in I would keep that aspect of it very short and sweet in the personal statement.
