Hey guys,

I recently took the MCAT in June but didn't do too well on it. I was planning on retaking it this summer but couldn't find any available dates. I know it's a little late, well really late, to apply right now, but my plan was to just apply so when I retake the MCAT next year and reapply next June, I would be a reapplicant.

Now, I was always under the impression that it is better to be a reapplicant and you have more of a chance of getting in. However, I was talking to a medical school counselor the other day and she told me that she had never heard of such a thing.

My question is, should I even bother applying then or is it a waste of money? I'm not at a financial burden but don't really have that kind of money to burn.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I really appreciate any feedback. 🙂

Moving to Re-Applicant forum for better advice. Pre-Allo members can read and post in Re-Applicants as well.

If so, it's pretty minor. Though, I spoke with the deans of several TX schools several years ago, and one said he treats first-timers better than re-applicants.

This is probably what you should focus on - the cost of applying. Not just the money, either. It takes a lot of time to set up letters and write essays. It hurts a lot when you get your hopes up, only to find the rejection notice from the last school you applied to. So in short, don't apply unless you mean it.

True story
I've improved my MCAT 3 points from the last time I applied but last time I had 2 interviews at this point.

Right now I have Zero :scared:

But then again, it's not over until it's over..right?
