I am still trying to secure a MD/DO letter for DO schools (and UofA), I have searched for over 4 months now. Would it be ok to be complete at these schools in September if I can shadow a doc in August? I aim to get the first four schools done by august first since they dont require DO letters.

what was your sgpa the first time around and did you apply to any DO schools then?

My sGPA has not changed since undergrad since I have been only taking graduate courses

I did not apply to DO schools other than LECOM, which didnt even respond to me after submission. I didnt have a DO letter and I was shadowing a doc in January who bailed last minute on vacation so I didnt get a letter for that cycle. Since then its been a struggle to find a doc ( live in a small city)

You should be able to receive DO interviews. For MD I suggest adding these schools:
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin
Case Western
Pitt
Rochester
Einstein
Wake Forest
Your high MCAT may attract attention at some MD schools but it is difficult to predict which schools.

@Faha why do you think OP was unsuccessful last cycle? Isn't the point of SMP's to show that an individual can handle medical school coursework? A 3.9 in the SMP and a 33 (so like, 513ish?) should've gotten atleast a handful of II's, no? It seems like the ideal outcome/numbers for SMP candidates....EC's aren't bad either.

I think it have been poor school selection and too few schools (20). This time I am looking to double the list and look at more DO schools.

Would love to know another reason as well. I did receive a II at my SMP school.

Not Faha, but a poorly written essays or a bad LOR will kill an applicant's chances. SDNers are advised to not be mesmerized by stats alone. IF the OP took the SMP at a medical school, that in itself is quite telling.

Of your list, delete Cooper and Penn State.

What do you mean by this?
If the OP got shut out by their own host med school, that says something. Granted, some schools may have a limit on the seats they allow for their own SMP class. But the you have now mentioned in your OP that you got an II from your host school, so my original point is moot.

Yea, sorry for completely forgetting about that. I hope that means my activites and PS passed at least the minimum review.

Thank you for the school input.
