reapplication after deferred admission

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you probably can, but most likely that MD school will recind their offer when you attempt to do so.
Don't think there's a loophole for you here.

I'm in the middle of a year deferral and my school made me reapply to the school (and only that school) via AMCAS. There is a special option in AMCAS for deferrals that (I think) limits you to only selecting a single school.

If your school doesn't force you to do this you might be able to do what you're talking about, but I'd be a bit hesitant.

Personally I believe that if you KNOW you'd be unhappy with the place that you have, you should drop it (you'll still be miserable there next year).

I know it's not your top choice, but have you considered joining their MD/PhD program after you start going there? I never knew you could do this but at the school I'm going to next year you can apply for the phd part after youre in medical school, and it's a little easier to get since they know who you are. Also you could consider doing research without doing the dual program.

I think they'll rescind your acceptance if you defer and then reapply to other schools. You shouldn't have applied to a school that you wouldn't go to.

I doubt there's any way you can know you'll be unhappy (or happy, for that matter) at a school. We're trying to get to where you have some kind of info to make that call besides brochures and interview day with the school reviews database, but for now, most people judge their "fit" at schools pretty much arbitrarily, when you get down to it. I would just go to that school. Med school is going to be at least moderately unpleasant, regardless of where you go. Don't risk getting burned by the system to turn down a school you probably don't know very much about.

Ok isnt deferral the same as taking a year off instead of matriculating to do something important? If a school allows deferrals why would they make you go through AMCAS again?
