Hello everyone,
Congratulations to those who are currently holding acceptances and good luck to those still holding out hope for this cycle! As it stands right now I will most likely need to reapply. I am planning on calling all the schools and discussing where my weaknesses are in my application, but I would additionally be extremely grateful for any insight/advice from you all. Particularly if I even have a chance at an MD without an SMP and if so, what I can do to be more successful this second time around. I feel like my GPA is where I am the weakest so I am considering an SMP, but would really just like to go straight into med school if possible just because they tend to be pricey and med school will cost enough as is. A little history about me:
I applied this past cycle to a very broad range of schools. My primary was submitted the first day, however I retook the MCAT in July so my scores were not received until August (I'm not quite sure if this delayed my application or not). I was granted 2 II's one of which was a state school that I was rejected at post interview. The other school I am currently waiting to hear back from, but am thinking it will probably result in a WL (very small movement at this school).
Stats:
Graduated from a well-known private university with a degree in Neuroscience last April.

LOR's:
- 2 very strong, the rest just average.
I should also add that I am a bit of a non-trad in that I am a lesbian. I say a bit of a non-trad because I am not necessarily sure that it qualifies as the traditional "non-traditional" if that makes sense haha. My personal statement was very heavy on this and in a perfect world I would not be concerned about homophobic adcoms, but I am starting to become nervous that being so open with this topic might have been a mistake. Sorry for the terribly long post, but I would sincerely appreciate any tips as to what I can do to improve and advice as to where I might have gone wrong this past cycle. Thank you again, and good luck with all your pre-med/current-med/post-med endeavors!
