I have been wondering if I want to reapply to schools that I have applied to this year and not been accepted say next year or in two years how does the process work? Will I have to do everything all over again or can I just reapply and they'll already have all my other stuff(recommendations, statement, GRE's, transcripts etc) on file? I think it may be a school specific process but just want to know if anyone knows how that works exactly.

you wont have to resend GRE scores, i know that. unless you only sent like say V/Q/W and not Psychology or other way around.

I believe that you basically send in your things again-on applications they have a spot that asks if you have applied before and you check yes or no and sometimes they have a space to explain why you are applying again. I'm not sure what the consensus is on reapplying-Maybe you could email the schools you didn't get into and ask why your application was rejected so you can work on the areas that may need improvement.

Look on the FAQ on each program website, they will all be different. Some schools won't require you to resend them if you apply a year afterwards (and then they get rid of them), some don't keep them at all so you would have to resend them even if you applied the following year.

Hi there,

Even if not required, I would suggest that you send in updated letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, and CV. Ideally, after a year or two you will have better letters and a more focused statement. I think most schools realize this, though, and ask you to re-send everything, even if it is only a year later (with the possible exception of GRE scores and transcripts). Good luck!

I second this! I applied twice, and was far more successful the second time around. To boot, each program that I was admitted to was a program I had applied at previously. I would even consider asking this question personally with any faculty you may have been in contact with or interested in working with at your programs of interest. Refreshing or establishing these precious contacts will go a long ways. Best wishes!

Fair enough, I was just thinking about possibly completeing a masters in one year or even not going to a master's and applying again to basically the same schools I applied to this year but retake the GRE's, get some volunteer/research experience however I don't think by the time I would apply again next year i would meet new people who could give me better letters of reccomendation although it is possible I guess. I don't know how wise it is to zoom through a master's program in one year anyway but I really want to try to get into a doctoral as quickly as possible and now I know a little bit more about the schools i applied to because I was interviewed at two of them and feel like I'd be able to present myself more strongly with more knowledge of their programs even if my own personal experiences haven't changed that much.
