Hi,
I need some advice. I have just got the result of my Part 1 exam ( new pattern) of 83. Now I am wondering if I should retake Part 1 or take Part 2 exam.
Please advise

well i m in the same boat..i have 85% score..just dont know what to do...i m not sure how much room for improvement this new pattern has..i already paid my fee for reapplying nbde 1..

even i scored 84 in part 1( new pattern).. im in a fix whether to take part 1 again or to move forward and take part 2.. dont know how much room for improvement will it be in either case.. what all i have gathered from sdn is that schools just look at the scores.. and nothing else..if we have average g.p.a we have to get a good score(90+). Probably its high time that should apply for part 1 again..

In my opinion i feel it would be good if you could improve your score but the decision is relative.

all u guys who are double minded about taking the exam again....why dont u apply to universities and study for part I again at the same time? univ looks at higher score anyways....hope i helped....but i def think <87 there's not much of a chance...especially w/ the scores the univ's want now.

As far as I know, it would just be the same process as you did before. But in the application form, just specify that you have taken NBDE before and the app. #. Hope this helps. Go to ADA.org and find out more details.

I had taken my NBDE 1 in 2005 and i scored 86. I did not get a school at that time. I had a long gap I know because of personal reasons. Now I am confused whether I should take the part 1 again or take part 2 esp because the pattern has changed.

I think retake it..Im in the same boast as you..I gave mine injan 2005 too and got an 84...will start to study again for it now...
I had given it in my 3rd year of dental school and then did my residency after graduation 🙁 so wasted that one year!. Now regret it.

What if this time we score less than what we scored first time?? As you know exam is getting tougher day by day..😕

that's so right..it gives me chills when i think that..but u know what it's worth a try..how is ur preparation comming along ? and when r u expected to take nbde 1?

I saw in one of the posts that pattern has changed again in feb 2008. I dont know what has changed but if you search sdn you wil find that. I am so depressed that i cant study for part 1 again.. Sometimes i think i should take part 2 and try my best in that and leave everything on God.
I have almost decided that i am not retaking part 1..
Rest is upto you guys, if you are confident you should go ahead and retake..
