I know its still early in application season and I have yet to hear from a bunch of schools but its about time to start studying for the MCAT again. Assuming I do not get accepted anywhere this cycle I was wondering if its more practical to retake my MCAT in may and reapply or go to a post-bacc with a linkage into their medical school. My stats are as follows:

cGPA:3.53
sGPA:3.25
MCAT: 25M
Lots of EC's

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely do mcat. If you get 28-29 and up and have good ECs you should get in somewhere.

MCAT and early application would be best.

Do NOT do a post-bacc, especially if you're pursuing a D.O. acceptance.

Formal post-baccs are a high-risk endeavor- you're already in a good spot.

Take a princeton review or kaplan course. Clearly you know stuff since you got the 25 and an ok GPA, you probably just need to get better at taking the actual test. Those courses will do that. They're expensive but worth it.

The classes didn't really help me much... if you have the books, you'd be better off buying the AAMC practice tests and working from that.

But ya, no post bacc... just reapply with a better MCAT. 👍

Good luck on the mcat bro, seems to be the only thing holding you back.

And it's not holding you back by much. You still my be accepted with your stats.

So even a post bacc like vcom where they have over 80% matriculate into the med school isnt worth it?

I think the issue is that your gpa isn't bad at all. At the most, I would just take a couple of science classes when you're done with your mcat to raise the sci gpa a little. A +3-4 in your MCAT will be the most beneficial to your app I'd say.

Rock the MCAT and get the app in early. Also, if you can take a semester of science to boost the sci gpa to ~3.4 it will help too. That with decent ECs and essays should get you a few interviews.

From my understanding a PostBac is for those who graduated with a degree other than that in science. I'm assuming you already took all your pre-reqs and this is why you took the MCAT. If this is the case than a smp or regular masters would be the way to go. It doesn't make sense to retake all the same courses. Sucks that you might be looking at another year but I'm glad your not giving up. Good luck. And, I second the motion to retake the MCAT. I would say this is a must. Personally, I have heard very different things about different MCAT courses, so I don't know if that is the best route to go or not.

It's starting to get a bit late in the cycle, but patience is a virtue, and if you don;t get any interviews, definitely apply next year! Your stats are fine for my school. Retaking MCAT is purely optional. Only retake if you strongly think you can do better.
