I am a 2010 Biomedical engineering graduate that wants to go to medical school. I was not accepted the first time around, and have not applied for the 2011 cycle. I had planned on taking two years off and bolstering my application by retaking the mcat and getting a research job, but as of yet I have not landed one. I would appreciate some advice on where to go from here.

My gpa was a 3.47 and my mcat a 33 (good through two more application cycles)

I would like to get an mph. But I have heard that your masters work isn't considered until after your graduated? I genuinely want to get an mph degree, but my first priority is getting into medical school. What should I do to improve my chances?

Your MCAT is fine, beef up your ec by doing something like Americorps or something

Agreed.

Your MCAT is good, and I wouldn't risk doing worse. Your GPA is low, but doing an mph won't really help that too much since ugrad is considered separately and is considered more important.

Boosting your ECs would probably be the easiest and most effective way. Raltima is right, look into something like AmeriCorps. Good experience and good for apps.
