I understand that reapplying after being accepted to any medical school = bad. But withdrawing after an interview, I never heard of that affecting someone’s application.
Would it be safe to assume that it would have no bearing on reapplying?

Because it's relevant to whether they would care or not...I wouldn't want to interview you again if I was a medical school if I knew you interviewed last cycle and withdrew cause you weren't interested or something. It's a waste of their resources. But it if there was some reason you were forced to withdraw your app then maybe this is something you've already explained to them or that you can explain to them.

When you apply to medical schools, they don’t ask you to check a box and explain why you are reapplying if you previously withdrew from a school post-interview, unlike reapplying after being accepted somewhere. Where would you have to explain your reasoning to adcoms?

Edit: I'm confused. OP, are you a reapplicant who is asking whether you'd have to explain to medical school B why you elected to withdraw post-interview from school A? In that case, no, nobody cares.

I think youre perfectly fine. I dont think anywhere on the app even asks for this. No one will even know besides the 1 school you withdrew from

If they ask you at an interview, then they clearly found you worthy of using their resources to interview you.

And some secondaries do ask if you applied to other schools, but they want to know what years, which schools, and how did you improve since then. Some secondaries ask why you are reapplying after being accepted someplace. But I never seen a secondary ask why you are reapplying after withdrawing post-interview.

I mean, idk about the process of adcoms seeing if you're a reapplicant. If you don't admit on a secondary to being a reapplicant do they not know? I'm assuming they're easily able to cross check whether you've applied before.

In this case, they'd probably see that you withdrew after being interviewed, no? If I noticed that as an adcom I'd make sure to ask you about it at an interview, but I'm not sure if this is the process or not.

OK, I understand better now, thank you for clarifying.

No, there is no reason to elaborate to any third party about why School A wasn't a good fit in a previous cycle. As a matter of fact, it's probably best to avoid it unless asked directly (very unlikely). I would assume School A would have to be a pretty bad fit to withdraw post interview, and you know the adage "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

Oh, I assumed you meant applying to school A, withdrawing post-interview, and applying to school A again the next cycle.

Misunderstood. If you aren't applying to "A" again withdrawing/reject is all the same to B, C, D etc.
