Hi, I applied for 2009 to many schools, and only got into the state schools...now I got several good interviews, got wait-listed at several places and tried very hard to get off of them, but it didn't work out...once I got to the school I was accepted to, I knew that the setup wasn't for me, and I have been very unhappy there for the last few weeks, I know it is not the school for me...what advice do you have about reapplying? I just want to know if reapplying after leaving is impossible...I've had very good grades (GPA=3.9), good MCAT score (37) and sufficient activities (research, service), so I'm only worried that the withdrawal could destroy my application...what do you think?

Wait, so you were accepted to med school, you matriculated and decided you didn't like it, you want to drop out and reapply? No way-- you'll never be accepted anywhere else in the United States again. I'm pretty sure that you're going to have to suck it up and remember that it's only four years and that you're pretty much learning the same crap everyone else is anyways. Look at it this way-- you're paying in state tuition and it's only a couple of years.

Sorry kid, but I think that you're just going to have to make the best of it. The only way out of this one is to transfer and you're not going to get a transfer unless you have a wife in another state who is dying or something.

You're a tool and an idiot. Don't expect anything else from the folks on this forum.

Also, trolling is only fun when you can hear or see my reaction to a post - "reading" such responses is over-rated fun.

I believe some schools let you transfer after a year, you can try that if you are in good academic standing, and you can provide a better reason other than you don't like the school.

Try to get good grades in the first year, then try to transfer somewhere else.

Try transferring?

I don't understand.. You have a 3.9 GPA and a 37 MCAT as well as solid ECs but only got into your state schools? What else could you have possibly done to get into the caliber of school that you initially wanted?

Even if you were to risk leaving, which I would not advise, what do you think would be different this time around? You obviously have a weakness somewhere in your app that you are overlooking. Anyways, be glad that you did get into a med school and at this point in the game it is way too late for you to drop out just to reapply. That would not look good and as others have said it would most likely destroy any chance of med school for you. Your only bet now is to try and apply out for transfer admissions but you'd better come up with a damn good reason as these types of admissions are extremely hard - especially since your obviously trying to go for upper tier schools.
