I applied to several schools this cycle but made the mistake of applying late. I haven't heard back from a couple schools and I interviewed at CU last month and haven't heard back. My plan B is to get my masters next year and reapply EARLY! But my question is what masters programs are good for predent?? I know there are a lot out there for premed but not as many for predent. Also I really don't want to take the GRE so ideally schools that take the DAT! Thanks!

Depending upon where you live and how much you are willing to spend. Here are some programs designed for Pre-Dental

3) UCSF School of Dentistry Pre-Dental Post-baccalaureate Program

4) Creighton Uni. School of Dentistry Post-baccalaureate Program

5) Baylor College of Dentistry Pre-Dental Post-baccalaureate Program

6) Portland State University Pre-Dental Post-baccalaureate Program

7) Towson University Pre-Dental Post-baccalaureate Program

8) Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Post-baccalaureate Program

9) Southern Illinois University School of Medicine: MEDPREP- dental edu. preparatory program

10) Barry University Masters in Biomedical Science

I am sure there are many more. BTW, I have decided/accepted to Barry's 1 year program. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!

Thanks that is a lot of help! Do you know what the benefits are between getting a masters vs post-bacc programs?

I'm in the middle of the UMDNJ masters, and they accept DAT scores. I'll be finishing it in 11 months (though they normally recommend 3 semesters), and have been accepted to dental school this cycle. I think it did more for me than my informal post-bac classes prior to it. They also allow you to take some of the dental school courses with the dental students. I just came back from an oral immunology exam.

Honestly if you wanted to, you could even apply for the premed master's programs--they accept predents too sometimes--just call and ask.

I know that Midwestern, BU, and UMDNJ all have specific dental programs, though.

Apply soon, it's rolling admissions!

I know for a fact that at least one program you listed on this list is for people who have not yet taken their prerequisite science courses for dental school, not for people who need to retake science courses or who are looking to enhance their undergraduate record.

If you want a more complete list, I would recommend going to the post-baccalaureate forum.

how late did you apply? (as in when was it completed?)
