Hey guys,

I got accepted into a pharmacy school in California and will most likely get accepted into MCPHS-Worcester, but I am thinking of reapplying to more schools this cycle. This past cycle I only applied to schools that don't require the PCAT.

I was thinking of working as a tech at a pharmacy, getting a letter of recommendation from a pharmacist, getting a good PCAT score and applying to some top programs. I have 3 strong letters of rec already, one from a research professor who I worked for for 3 years.

I really want to go to UCSF, but I got rejected this time around. I applied to Purdue but I haven't heard back--I will probably get rejected since my stats aren't stellar/amazing.

The reason why I want to go to a top school is because I am aiming to specialize in an area of pharmacy, and go onto doing PGY1 and PGY2 residencies. I may still be able to do this if I go to a school that I already got accepted to-- however, the tuition rates are astronomical...I would be more comfortable paying a very prestigious and established school rather than a low ranked school. Once I start at a school, I basically can't ever go back. It's a huge commitment...

What do you think?

From what i've heard those PGY1+2 residencies can be very competitive and DO rely on your ability to network. And the better ranked schools allow you to do that better. If there isnt some pressing need for you to go into pharmacy school right now,

I would get a part time job and wait and apply later. If you have low stats applying to a school this late will just be a waste of time and money.

I have a 3.4 gpa, both science and cumulative.

I have a need to go to pharm school right now because I want to launch my career as soon as possible and have time to start a family. I think that working as a tech, in my opinion, could be a waste of time. I am willing to work during school as a tech as well as volunteer at clinics.
