hey guys, so heres my situation:

applied last year (between junior/senior year of college), got rejected everywhere (not even an interview)
ive now graduated and am reapplying this year with slight differences in my app:

oGPA/sGPA (from Univ. of Michigan):
last year: 2.95/2.95ish, this year: 3.02/3.02ish

DAT (retook, last year/this year):
PAT: 21/25
QR: 18/22
RC: 20/18
BIO: 19/19
GC: 20/21
OC: 19/17
TS: 19/19
AA: 19/19

(not sure if it matters any but even though the scores are pretty much the same, the 19s translated to low/mid 70s percentil last year while its now translated to a low/mid 80s percentil this year)

sooo yea theres a lotta up/downs and head-scratchers in those scores.
theres obviously no more improving on the undergrad GPA, my retake on the DAT indicate no change pretty much across the board with exception to PAT (atleast that stands out as pretty high). so really the only difference is that now my gpa is over the 3.0 mark and my DAT scores now have one score that pops out (the 25 on the PAT)

now im not asking on my chances of getting in (although input would be nice) but rather that now that im out of undergrad, what do i do in the meantime during this application cycle to help me get in.
ive been going back and forth on going for a masters (gives me a new GPA since thats my weakest point but more stress cause i need that GPA to go up) or taking a research job for the next year (which id honestly prefer, abit less stress and id be getting paid but obviously doesnt improve gpa but adds research exp to my app... i havent had any prior research experience on my other app so its something new)

keep in mind that whatever i do, the only thing i can put on the aadsas is that i plan on doing it, but theres nothing on how im doing throughout the year or how long im doing it.

sorry misspoke... GPAs were 2.98/2.85 to a 3.06/3.02

it also might be worth mentioning that i raised that GPA in one year with some 500 level classes in there (ie not easy A classes)

I would go for a Masters instead of the research job b/c your GPA is your most detrimental factor in your application. If you do a research job and find out you didn't get in this cycle, then you'd have to take another year to do a Masters and then reapply. If you start a Masters now, you'd be saving yourself a year for applications. Dental school is your ultimate goal, and you need to do what best improves your application, and that is your GPA.

yep, the dat is not great as far as sciences they are about average to below average. you need to go to graduate school and get a masters degree in a science or biology with medical related classes that you will take in dental school. do well in this masters 3.5+ and then take the DAT again right before the summer you reapply. hopefully all that graduate school will improve your science knowledge.
