I feel that after having agonized months over my personal statement that writing my reasons for wanting to be a doctor, again, is not valuable. I do feel that my essay details why I want to be a doctor. So on secondaries that provide this space, what is the appropriate response? Is it frowned upon to paste in the personal statement or reference it? Do you get negative points for citing your personal statement.

Basically, how are people approaching this situation? How long of an answer do you write of there is not limit?

Thanks. Best of luck to all the secondary writers out there.

If your PS already give reasons (mainly theoretical "I want to help people...")that you want to be a doc, maybe you could give an example in the secondary. By example, I mean tell a story about something that happened (while volunteering, shadowing, etc.) that confirmed your theory.

Or you could just use the honest three word answer: money, power, prestige.

you forgot chicks.

I wrote my reasons in my secondaries: I specifically wrote that MD stands for "Makin' Dollars." It really gave my application some class and made me stand out.
