I like making lists, so here goes:

I have literally zero extracurricular activities from my entire time in college.

My volunteer, shadowing, and clinical experience didn't start until under 3 months ago.

I have no grades and no GPA (whatsoever).

One of my evaluations is from a friend (due to my naivety).

I only scored a 504 on my MCAT, with 124 in BOTH of the science sections.

I wrote about my fickleness regarding my major and time spent homeless in my application essay.

Although I ticked the "native" and "other" boxes for ethnicity, I'm pretty damned "white".

I sometimes get really clumsy and/or overly emotional in interviews.

I technically never took Gen Bio (a necessary prerequisite) although I have taken upper division biology.

I'm only applying to one school! (I did this for undergrad, too, but they had a 98% acceptance rate.)

I'm currently waiting on my primary being verified (just submitted), and so am slightly behind schedule.

My research experience is limited, and 100% non-lab based.

I have a service animal that I don't yet know how to get along without.

I have a LOT of difficulty relating to my peers in a non-condescending manner.

I once got 1/6 credits for a Medicinal Botany course.

I have 4 credits in Afro-Brazilian Dance and have taken other assorted "wtf" classes.

I'm hella homeless and have some difficulty appearing professional.

I pretty much never wear shoes.

I don't really know anyone from the school I'm applying to.

...

I (ironically?) feel better now 🙂

if you decided to become a doctor 3 months+ ago with these types of huge problems with your application, then why didn't you wait another year or 2 to correct the issues? right now it's just useless stress and wasted money, which you are apparently short on, applying to be rejected.

I'm not sure if this is a joke or not...
Lol,nah. I almost wish it were though... unless my life is a joke? I guess that's pretty accurate.

I figure I have a decent chance of being waitlisted if not accepted, and I hear waitlist is practically an acceptance for next year.

Honestly though, I think I have good chances. I'm a very good healer and student, as will be obvious from my relevant LORs and the 20-some page long list of narrative evaluations that takes the place of a GPA on my transcript.

waitlists are for sure not "practically an acceptance." most reputable medical schools accept ~double their class size and reject from waitlist double to triple their class size. you are confusing yourself with confirmation bias because: people don't like to post that they got rejected and people on SDN tend to select for neurotic and competitive applicants. the statistics don't lie and, unless the school tells you your place on the waitlist, i would treat it as a rejection.

however, if you do believe that you are competitive to the one school you are applying to, then good luck and hope for the best that the admission thinks so too.

Narrative evaluations. Which, from your other post, include two LORs from your friends.

Thanks for the info.
My scores are at or above their 50th percentile for acceptance.

My narrative evaluations from my school are separate from my LORs on AACOMAS. The school evaluations are all written by my teachers.

I'm sorry that you've hit a rough patch. I actually have met a homeless student before and my college ended up giving him free housing. It's a stretch but it may be possible. As far as your chances are concerned you have zero chance of acceptance. How have you taken classes, but have no gpa? I feel like this is a troll tread, but you have an older account so who knows..

To answer your question about no GPA, look up The Evergreen State College.

or, from Wikipedia:

"Evergreen was formed to be an experimental and non-traditional college. Faculty issue narrative evaluations of students' work rather than grades, and Evergreen organizes most studies into largely interdisciplinary classes that generally constitute a full-time course load."

Any evaluation that would say "doesn't get along well with others " will be lethal by itself.

Are you aware that Admissions dean look at SDN.

IF you're telling the truth, you've set yourself up quite badly.

I'm not trying to lie to anyone, and my evaluations improved throughout in every aspect.

40% of this **** is in my essay and 40% is on my transcript anyway. The rest will either be evident in the interview or I'll have sorted it out by then.

I don't want to trick them into accepting me. I honestly think it's the right school and the right profession and I hope they'll see that.

Edit: My school will convert my evaluations into a GPA if requested, but they say most schools (including medical schools) don't make them.

sooo yeah you and us both realize this isnt good right?

Self-calculated GPAs:

*numbers*

Of course that's a little hazy because turning adjectives into numbers isn't always an exact art. It was fun though 🙂

Lol I bet I know what school you went to...I went there for 2 years before deciding on premed. Feel free to pm me. If it's the school I'm thinking of, you should still have grades somewhere (although you might have to sign a release to get them...not even kidding). Disregard if I fell for a troll post.

Im currently getting over pneumonia and am drugged up on NyQuil.....

OP, you need to seek professional help before applying to med school. When you say homeless, are you serious? I dont want to take you as a troll.

Most people have preconceptions about homeless people. I just happen to be an exception to the stereotypes.

I am intentionally homeless so that I can travel for free during my year off between pre-med and med school.

I think having these experiences and still having a strong academic record and goals for the future shows a level of self-awareness, drive, and maturity beyond that demonstrated by those who haven't been out of school since they were about 3 y/o.

When I explain my goals for practicing in my secondary, they should be able to start to see how well it all fits together.

You have so many red flags that it's too long to explain right now. As a teaching moment, Adcom are loath to admit students who are at high risk to be dismissed, or fail out. Narcissism is one them. A track record of making poor choices is another.

More later!

I actually feel like my record shows how unlikely I am to fail out. It took a lot to get here, and I haven't faltered. If that doesn't demonstrate my abilities as an adult learner, I don't know what would.

I am not talking about your academics.
I'm talking about the whole picture, which includes both academics and life experiences.

Most students will try to hide their faults (OCD, adderall addiction, insomnia, antisocial, etc.). That just isn't me. When they're done reading my application, they should understand why I will be a good student and doctor. If they don't, I was wrong to think it's the right school for me.

What I'm trying to get across to you is that no med school will be for you with all the red flags you're carrying.

Medical schools have standards...... I dont think you have mental capacity nor professionalism. You stated youre only applying to ONE medical school and you barely wear shoes.

Really? Are you on drugs?

I am willing to wear shoes for lab and clinical stuff, and of course the interview.

Does medical marijuana count? 😛

What the....

That is an interesting (albeit inaccurate) analysis of the situation.

I'm just about as non-traditional as they come 🙂 and am VERY used to being judged and misunderstood.

LOL. I wont ask about your personal hygiene, which is very important in medical school. 😛
My lifestyle (including personal hygiene) is very different when I'm traveling and when I'm in a medical setting. For example, I recently went about 3 weeks straight without showering while on the road and in the woods; but made sure to shower, brush my teeth, and put on clean clothes (and shoes) the morning I shadowed someone last week. I'm also not too comfortable with hand sanitizer, but I understand the importance of sanitation and am willing to use it when washing my hands properly is not a viable option.

I hope you're one of those girls who doesn't EVER stink (They are god sent). LOL....... If you wanna be a physician, depending on what hospital you work at, you have to use hand sanitizer or hand wash every times you enter and leave the room. Unless you are a Radiologist.....

I intend to be a family doctor. I will likely only work in a hospital during clinical rotations and residency, and maybe if I get accepted for the NHSC scholarship.

After that, I want to start my own rural practice and provide healthcare largely for trade.

As I said, in any healthcare setting I'm down to keep my hands sanitary in whatever way necessary and possible; regardless of whether I'm working in an institution or not.

Classic trolling mistake. You turned it way beyond 11 in a direction that no one could ever find believable, peppered too much self-importance, narcissism, entitlement, and arrogance into your posts, and declared yourself to be the most special snowflake of all time. It's too much all at once, and not nearly as clever as you think it is, unfortunately. You had some good bait in there, with the little bits about being native and dropping hints about hygiene and such, but there was just too much. You passed the point of suspension of disbelief way too early on.

my GF is just like this! She smells exactly the same all the time, even after a 10 mile run. It's pretty awesome.
