I'm tired of the silly stuff trying to put people on the defensive about OT. Let's turn this one around, ok? 👍

Give one reason (per post) of what you believe are compelling reasons to consider and pursue OT as a professional calling. You in?:clap::highfive::banana::soexcited::beat::zip:
I'll start.

#1 For guys... some of the prettiest, nicest females on the planet are OT students. The odds of finding that perfect mate are ... perfect.

Really?!? Yeah, that will knock the socks off the admission committee and maybe a few girls!

Selective programs require selective information. It's a common sense gut-check. In any case, I'm sticking with it just for one reason. It's true!😍:highfive::zip:

My wife wouldn't like that reason haha. My goal is to make a difference in kids lives who need a little help along the way (that sounds much better to the admissions people). My sister is an OT and I have a million volunteer hours so I am aware of what I am getting into. Also, my old profession had me sitting behind a computer screen all day with little interaction with people.

You have many options to find something you enjoy doing!

Home health, pediatrics, inpatient/outpatient rehab, geriatrics, work hardening, early intervention, mental health...If you read advanceweb's OT magazine (its free, so sign up!) then they talk about a new area of OT nearly every time I read it!

Oh, and I read once somewhere that doctors and nurses save lives, but an OT is what gives a persons life back.

I like that idea of helping someone be able to live their life independently and as fully as possible.
